Wow, the focus trees are really becoming elaborate. Makes me wish even more that the devs eventually go back and redo all the earlier ones.

Alright, so I know that due to the structure of the tree the Fascist and Monarchist paths can look quite confusing, it was really tricky to sort them out without it looking really, really messy. Allow me to shed some light on the matter, I hope this pic helps clarifying what focuses are available if you go through the monarchist branch:

View attachment 627321

As you can see Monarchist Bulgaria can approach both the Allies and the Axis, and also plot against Boris. Then you can either join the Axis, join the Allies or create your own Balkan faction via "The Fate of the Balkans".

The only limitation to Boris is that he can never complete "The Fate of the Balkans", since the focus requires that he is either dead ("Plot Against Boris") or deposed by the fascists ("Depose the Tsar", which will retire Boris and put Kyoseivanov in charge of the non-aligned party).

Also, quick tip that might be useful while checking the Bulgarian tree, note that the links between focuses ALWAYS move horizontally before going down (that's in fact why all those focuses around Bulgarian Irredentism are placed in that strange way), I know it's not the most intuitive thing ever, but I tried to use that to help ppl recognize where certain focus can lead to in messy areas like this one.

Similar to "Plot Against Boris" focus, "Join the Tripartite Pact" will change slighly under the appropriate circumstances:

View attachment 627322

1. There are two main reasons for my color choice: First of all, this cosmetic tag is not exclusive for communist Bulgaria, but shared between communists and democrats. So I decided to find out what the colors on the Blakan Federation flag standed for, and when I read that the black stripe represented the death in the struggle for liberty I just couldn't resist, so there it is, I hope you all enjoy Mordor Bulgaria :)

2. Bulgaria cannot ask for control of states cored by its controller
3. Will keep that in mind for the future, however I can't make any promises
1. Maybe a lighter black then? A dark shade of grey, so that it doesn't look like Nazi Balkans. Anyway, it's just a color. If you are happy, don't mind.
2. Only cores isn't too abusable? Wouldn't Bulgaria be able to annex all of Yugoslavia, Albania and Greece without even being at war with the Allies? Is there any other limit? Anyway, I keep thinking that Bulgaria shouldn't be able to ask for Albania, or at least, that Italy should never accept. Italy wouldn't give its claimed lands to Bulgaria. Annexed (and claimed*) Albania shouldn't be in the same category as non-owned occupied states like Macedonia.

* In the game, IIRC, Italy can't claim Albania but it should, historically Italy claimed Albania and Greater Albania.

I am seriously concerned about imbalance issues with this update. Bulgaria and Greece (and whoever else gets a focus tree) have options to spike world tension, meaning the Allies will be able to go to partial mobilization and increase conscription laws way earlier, not to mention the USA waking up way too soon. Are you considering at all addressing this issue? Will we ever be able to justify manually on another nation without it getting guaranteed?

Thanks

That huge Balkans Federation thing looks rather odd as the Balkans is about umm... balkanisation, isn't it?

Plus they said five countries in this pack and theres not five balkans that are needing a tree.
1) Where did they say 5
2) In the first DD (Greece) they said 3-4, so almost definitely not 5.

My guess is Greece, Bulgaria, and Turkey . . . Maybe Syria/Lebanon as a releasable dealing with Turkey.

Cheers for the DD Mano, and the extra info Podcat  It's clear there's a whole lotta love gone into this NF tree, with a bunch of different and interesting ways to play Bulgaria - love your work :) Between this and Greece, there's a lot of interesting replay value on the way.

A naval pic for Bulgaria is a little trickier, but not impossible - here's the torpedo boat Drizki/Drazki, which served as an escort and patrol boat during WW2 :)

I had posted after that sayign that I was wrong on how many. Syria and Lebanon won't be included because its a releasable nation.

And update Hungarian Trianon national spirit please.
They should receive the same restrictions as Bulgaria under the Neuilly Treaty.
No planes and new divisions before the Bled agreements!
That's dumb. The Hungarians were literally buying in tanks from '28 from multiple countries including the UK. They were pretty much the worst Treaty Cheats of all.

If you're going to advocate for fixes to the Hungarian tree, there are multiple literally bugged focuses that could merit some attention...

Really like how in-depth these trees are getting. This one looks well-balanced and (mostly) accurate or at least plausible.
On another note, does this new focus on internal politics mean we might see a general political rework in the next big DLC?

I'm not a fan of the "Prussia of the Balkans" focus in the slightest.

For starters, by principle I dislike artificial buffs that give military strength for seemingly no reason. Gives me some "France gets 20% Morale because Elán" vibes.

I accept it in some cases where its necessary to mimic some historical incident that couldn't be achieved with normal game mechanics (Ex: Giving Finland defense boost on core territory is justified, and giving China artificial tools to survive Japan is also justifiable), but there comes a point where every minor is starting to get mindless boosts for purely simbolic focuses, and that just feels wrong.

I also take issue with the name of the focus. Generally speaking, i dislike every time people make such comparisons "Its the Caribbean of Europe, the Venice of Ireland, the Texas of Brazil" ugh... If something is noteworthy, it should be noteworthy by its own merits, and not by larping as something else. Bulgaria is not Prussia, Bulgaria is Bulgaria, and that's a good thing, Bulgaria doesn't need to be Prussia to be good at war, Prussia doesn't hold the monopoly on war, and honestly I'm already tired of this sterotype... Prussia wasn't invincible, there have been far more impressive displays of military prowess against all odds, across time and across the globe that aren't given even 1% of the credit Prussia gets, All this hype is starting to rub me the wrong way...
But this is not about them, this is about Bulgaria, yeah i believe they deserve to stand on their own legs and not be reduced to a cheap spin-off of a popular blockbuster.
