Can we release now puppets, following the new system? Let's say, Lebanon or Lybia as France or Italy? IIRC if you currently release a nation, it will become completly independent.

Looking very promising up to now, I think this will not only add a lot of flavor but some good ingame mechanics, too.

@podcat how much can we mod this? Can we make custom levels or something for the Empire if we want to add special hooks to it?

its all moddable. a level looks like this roughly:
Code:
autonomy_state = {
    id = autonomy_integrated_puppet

    is_puppet = yes

    min_freedom_level = 0.0

    rule = {
        can_not_declare_war = yes
        can_decline_call_to_war = no
        units_deployed_to_overlord = yes
    }

    allowed = {
        #trigger
    }

    modifier = {
        autonomy_manpower_share = 1.0
        can_master_build_for_us = 1
        extra_trade_to_overlord_factor = 1.0
        overlord_trade_cost_factor = 0.1
        cic_to_overlord_factor = 0.25
        mic_to_overlord_factor = 0.75

        research_sharing_per_country_bonus_factor = -0.5
    }

    ai_subject_wants_higher = {
        factor = 1.0
    }

    ai_overlord_wants_lower = {
        factor = 0.0
    }

    can_take_level = {
        #trigger here
    }

    can_lose_level = {
        #trigger here
    }
}

@podcat A slightly off topic question for you... I was going through the last few dev diaries and you mention new national sprits for both Australia (Great Depression) and South Africa (segregation), but not Canada. Was it just missed when you put together the Canadian post, or are only a few Commonwealth countries getting them to add the appropriate flavor?

If you look at my picture in the diary you can see 2. There is a depression one and one about the french-canadian conscription crisis.

When I create a puppet/satellite nation, will I be able to choose its autonomy level to start off with or will it start as puppet and I'll have to manually decrease their autonomy?

they start as puppets and you need to bring it down

@podcat why exactly Nepal, Bhutan and Oman are not British subjects? Seems wierd that we can get ''Gurkhas'' and Nepal will still be an observer tag.

Lack of time really. it takes time to make nations and portraits and flags. I would love to have a ton more, and we got a roadmap document for it, but our rules is basically "do we need it now" and it goes in, otherwise it sits around until we get the time.

I think having a continuous focus for 'Maintain Empire' would be useful, something that tried to keep autonomy stable instead of raising or lower it.

You have the option of just not lowering people a level though (an actual action) so it would essentially do the same.

Will there ever be dynamic countries based off of certain regions? (They wouldn't spring on their own, as the have a culture group, but others may force for their existence).
you mean like union tags etc from Victoria 2? eventually I hope!

I feel like there's too many factors that increase autonomy versus those who reduce.

its appropriate for the timer period though. The war really increased autonomy all around

No, the Canadian Crown is a completely separate entity from the British Crown that "just happens" to be the same person. The British government has had no legal power over the Canadian one except for having to approve constitutional changes (removed in 1982) since Canada ratified the Statute of Westminster in 1931.

That is the case now. Throughout the time period mentioned, the British Parliament retained the ability to legislate for Canada and authority over the Canadian constitution, as well as Canada's highest Court of Appeal being a British court.

About time you can build factories and roads in your subjects! This could work great for co-op. Quick Question can we build everything else in a subject nation? Maybe i want to build land forts, AA guns, runways, ports, and radar in Singapore. Is this possible?

Also does anything happen when a subject is occupied? Like increased autonomy or a switch of loyalties?

You have the option of just not lowering people a level though (an actual action) so it would essentially do the same.

That's great! Making it an action just means you only have to concentrate on not having countries slip too far in the other direction, that a lot more manageable IMO.

Will the master have the option to just raise the autonomy level of a country? IE change a puppet to a dominion in the diplomacy screen, or does the autonomy need to be raised first?

Once the DLC is released and I host a multiplayer game with the DLC enabled can my friends who don't have the DLC play with me and still have access to the DLC stuff during that game?

Very pleased to see something like this being implemented.

One question which I haven't seen anyone else ask (apologies if they did and I missed it), are subject nations still completely prohibited from changing ideology, or is it only for certain levels? For example, if British India becomes a dominion can it switch from neutral to democratic government peacefully? What about communist or fascist?

Shouldn't this mean that the Free City of Danzig should finally become it's own tag as a puppet/integrated puppet of Poland?

IS it time for implemeting Japanese puppets like machuko ?

Yeah this system looks great for Japan and now people can annex Mengkukuo if they wanted with this. Plus Japan can have some really interesting decisions to make regarding dividing and conquering(Puppeting) China and all of Asia. Even the idea of making a puppet Korea makes a lot of sense now especially if Japan doesn't have cores to it.

Quick thought this could be great for the Soviet Union too! Could the Ukraine start off as an integrated Puppet of the USSR? As well as other fringe states of the union and later others could join(forced) like Finland or Estonia? The Soviets Could get unique bonuses for being communist like United for the Motherland where both puppet and master have a unique and almost full tech sharing! This could finally be the reason to play as a communist in this game! Facists get the manpower boasts to their own country in the focus tree while communists could get huge bonuses to puppet-master interaction which could allow a player to make it up thru better puppets!

I'm sorry, but i dont quite understand what you mean by that. You mean that it's better to have the fantasy setting that is the status quo than to have them correctly under britain with generic portraits and foci? Any teeny chance we might see any changes before the DLC, or that's just wishful thinking?

Anyways, thanks for your time answering this.

This looks very nice indeed, for colonial nations (obviously) but also for Axis puppets (Manchukuo, Mengjiang, Ostland/Belarus, Vichy, etc.).

How raising troops might work is fairly clear; will there be any facility for sharing leaders? Or will all leaders be with the "master" (as is pretty much the case now)?

EDIT: It's great to see that the levels of autonomy are moddable; can extra levels be added in, or do the levels have to be as set? I see no code to set a pair of "higher" and "lower" links, here.

Even the minor nations have things like a set of custom flags, a corral of named ideas, and so on. Putting even the barest minimum in somewhat accurately still takes up time which they'd probably rather spend on other things. I imagine we'll get the colonial states populated bit by bit as the focuses of each patch bring new areas into prominence.

I'd disagree, while the focus is obviously on the happenings IN the war, they did lay the groundwork for the various changes that happened to the British Empire in 1947 and 1948 with the Indian Independence Act and the dissolution of the Dominion status of the British Dominions.

Those were special occasions that happened after the war was over, and it was more or less a one-time thing. There wasn't a constant movement between levels, and I can't think of any nation that really "rose through the ranks" so to speak.

Being able to make sure that nations don't wander all over the place all the time seems like something that is very much needed. Perhaps it will be rather rare, and the game already manages this well, but it is better to have something in place that can deal with these levels and prevent too much movement if necessary (for example for historic mods). Hence my question.
