So nothing to test in this tiny update and patch will go live on Monday. And all remaining bugs will not fixed until newer DLC?

very disappointed if these are the last changes for 1.5.2

there are lots more things to fix, including plenty of basic file corrections (typos, mistakes) that do not even need testing

One little thing, one can not write (paradox) instead of army first, first army? Sry as I said a trifle :). But that reads better and is more realistic than I mean! Thank you....

I tried the beta tests 1.52 patch through steam. Been playing fine, just two things I thought I'd share here:

Had a crash when invading Venezuela as the USA through the focus tree, while not yet in war with anyone else. They immediately joined axis and some countries joined the war and I got the text of a post war conference screen before the game crashed. I did send in the report.

During a naval battle with a Japanese fleet supported by naval bombers from Iwo Jima I noticed the naval bombers seemed a little strong: they made both passes in which they subsequently shot down all fighers and bombers from my fleets. See the screen, I thought it can't be that their naval bombers are so good in 1941 that they beat my 1940/1936 tech naval fighters and bombers like they are nothing??

JAP must have had a very good doctrine advantage over you. Tag over to JAP to see their tech.

Unfortunately I blindly started ironman, so no console. I noticed it's just the land based planes (although I haven't encountered land based fighters, ouch), enemy carrier borne planes are of similar performance to mine. I got quite the couple of naval doctrine techs (3 on the base strike, towards carriers). On air doctrine I'm at 1/3 of the strat destruction.
Anyway it happened again with land based tac bombers, so the JAP must indeed have superior bomber protection and or there is some glitch going on. It's not that they have massive number advantages, so it's at least itching me ;-)

Edit: well, at least it's a challenge. At first it seemed my fleets were superior, but with the help of the bombers around iwo jima I have lost some battles. Another screenshot of the elite JAP bomber pilots ;-). A single one shot down a host of planes and damaged a bunch of ships.

So I can exit and reload any game to get instant 100% war support? What does that modify exactly?

Only a few countries get to 100% that way; those that already had high war support and at the time of the save were in an offensive war for this to bring war support all the way up to the 100 cap. What appears to be going on is that on a saved game with joined war that some of the original joiners to the offensive side are considered on the defensive side (and vice versa) ; resulting in many countries now being on both an offensive and defensive war at the same time. (But not all; some countries stay correct; and others sometimes completely flip. [e.g. were in only an offensive war and now only in a defensive war rather than both.])
This has been going on since 1.5.0.

I played on and after a while (while taking some islands) I got back to the Mariana's (Iwo), and the first strike of the tac bombers seemed ok. However I thought land based bombers only get one pass in a naval battle? anyway the second pass destroyed another batch of CV planes (24 shot down 200).

On another note I'm enjoying the game. AI is putting up quite some resistance, even without this thing which I can circumvent by bombing their airfields. Still think something is out of order, although could just be that JAP focused the hell out of bomber protection.

well it's arbitrary isn't it? there are no pre-1940 german field marshals in the game, and most of the generals were very junior ranks in 1936, only a few were actually generals

at least ussr, france and italy have leaders who were actually marshal-rank in 1936

Rank is an abstraction in this game. Generals command Armies and FM command Army Groups in this game. History was more complex.....

During the invasion of Poland, Low Countries, and USSR, Germany only had three Army Group Commanders (or FM in this game): Bock, Rundstedt & Leeb.

So all three should be FM in the game.

Kluge commanded the 4th Armee in Poland, France and USSR. He first commanded an Army Group after late 1941. So he should be a general at the start of this game
Model did not command an army group until 1944. So he should be a general at the start of this game.

This is as sloppy on behalf of the Paradox Developers as naming the Germain fighters a Bf108 or a Fw180 or a tank the Panzer L or Panzer M.

Does it make the game unplayable no...does it show negligent ignorance of the history...yes.
Does it show carelessness in that the Dev cannot/ do not care enough to follow their own scheme---yes.

With current MEFO adjustments the rush to yugo/czech becomes pointless.

  1. Yes you can do it stil. In return rushing both leads to some gains, while the local focusses arent applied yet (when rushed).
  2. No, you shouldnt rush Anschluss, Yugoslavia and Czech since this forfeits the gains by their respective focusses.
In 2. the local focusses outweigh the gain compared to 1. So you can still rush, but it hurts your IC overall.

With a few more ideas I again tried a rush for Yugoslavia and Czech in [53D2]. Overall rushing those two too early actually costs app. 40 IC. So the gain from rushing too early hurts your IC big time (by 20%).

Now thats cool to know :D

Do we know if this patch will fix the AI just deciding to abandon a front?
Having a really irritating game as Communist China, fighting against Japan, as part of the Comintern. My Soviet ally has sent divisions to fight alongside me, as you'd expect when they're also at war with Japan. We're pushing Japan back, nearly to the point where we can invade Korea and liberate the remaining areas of China. However, all of a sudden the Soviets pull their entire force away from the front lines and start walking back to Europe to line up against Germany (Who they're not at war with - The Western allies are still fighting in France/Low countries).
Japan, naturally, began pushing through all the holes left in the front line, destroying many of my units, and threatening to overrun all of China again. This bug is almost game destroying!

Yes, when you rush you need to realize you are giving up all of that countries potential future builds that they would do. And which you will only get if you make now.

Of course, you are also grabbing all of their factories and resources for your own use, so there are some benefits.

Basically you are missing on their focusses. Thats why for max-IC you actually loose IC compared to a slow approach to land grabbing.
