GM built the Avengers at it's North Tarrytown (now named Sleepy Hollow) in NY, not at any of it's MI plants.Uh, yeah.
- 3rd largest R&D expenditure in the U.S. (R&D also the highest of any state as a percentage of GDP)
- Roughly $400,000,000,000 (Much higher than many European countries)
- Automotive, Food, IT, Aerospace, Military Equipment, Medical Tech, Copper & Iron ore, General Motors, Ford, Dow Chemical, Lear, etc.
- Longest suspension bridge in the Western Hemisphere.
- Leading research institutions. (For example-- National Superconducting Cyclotron Laboratory)
- pioneered assembly lines mass production.
-Largest State east of Mississippi river.
- Plus, Ohio ended up getting Toledo (see: Toledo War), we ended up getting the U.P. which produced 75-95% of the U.S.'s copper for almost half a century-- among other natural resources (Iron, Timber, Nickel, Silver, etc)
-World's largest supply of liquid fresh water.
Especially relevant to HOI... WW2 production for the allies:
- Oldsmobile alone produced 48,000,000 artillery shells.
- Buick built 1000 aircraft engines per month.
- Willow Run Plant-- 3 B-24s per hour, 8000 total.
- GM built more Grumman Avengers than Grumman did.
- Built half of all U.S. Tanks during the war. (Including all the ones sent to the British, Soviets, etc)
- Trucks, Tanks, Jeeps, Marine Engines, parachutes, 20mm cannons, mess kits, compasses, devices to convert U-238 to U-235, bombsights, aircraft... Pretty much everything.
To expound on what Mabzie wrote, MI produced almost 40,000 medium tanks at just 2 facilities, how many counties did the same thing as 1 US state?Michigan is an important state?
With HOI3 it is, but what the OP is forgetting, is MI does not lead the world in any kind of resources as listed in HOI3, it's factories would be empty in no time, and it's tanks and trucks would have empty fuel tanks. MI did/does have a few oil fields in the 30/40, but not enough for even it's economy, much less running a war effort. It'll almost certainly be possible to do this with mods.
48 pointless, ahistorical, completely implausible tags. You do know that tags slow the game down, right? Adding more tags means worse performance.
It's referenced on 3 or 4 sites but the fastest I could find was the wiki on the AvengerAbout the avenger, my point was that it was a Michigan company.
Wasn't sure exactly where they were produced though. I'd be interested in reading your sources if they are online.
Also in regards to resources, yes, trade/conquest would be essential.
But that goes for many countries.
Without the factory being in MI though it shouldn't be in the conversation of what was produced in MI.After hundreds of the original TBF-1 models were built, the TBF-1C began production. The allotment of space for specialized internal and wing-mounted fuel tanks doubled the Avenger's range. By 1943, Grumman began to slowly phase out production of the Avenger to produce F6F Hellcat fighters, and the Eastern Aircraft Division of General Motors took over production, with these aircraft being designated TBM. The Eastern Aircraft plant was located in North Tarrytown (renamed Sleepy Hollow in 1996), New York.
Inactive tags have next to no performance drawbacks in EU4 (as in, you don't get a second of difference over a whole year). This was true for previous games, but it isn't anymore.48 pointless, ahistorical, completely implausible tags. You do know that tags slow the game down, right? Or a more robust trade system, with the economy tied to the exports of one factories. In HOI3 you wouldn't be able to simulate this kind of economic simulation. Those numbers don't say anything of relevance, the only reason you could produce so many tanks etc. is with the economic backing of a country the size of the USA. Michigan, at best, on it's own is like a country the size of Sweden.
