So you know what would just make my life complete?

The ability when playing as the U.S. to make a puppet out of the (then) 48 States.

And also make the great lakes/St. Lawrence seaway navigable.

I've dreamt of Playing as Michigan since HOI1.:

I want to play in the sandbox.

And if you can't do every state, at least the major ones, (California, Texas, NY, Virginia, Michigan, New Jersey, Massachusetts, etc) ((no offense)). But every one would be preferable as I'm sure many others want to do this.

"Hmmm. If I marry off my daughter to the Guvernor of Texas, and invite high judge Michael Peterson over to a rodeo show and arrange for him to get kicked to death by a horse, and rally the state's militia groups to my cause... yes, yes, I can see this working. Things are going great. I might have independence by 1942! :gains Scheming dark horse trait:".

It'll almost certainly be possible to do this with mods.

I like playing alternative history scenarios too - surely everyone does? Otherwise you might as well just watch World at War. You only play hoi to make decisions - sometimes the same decisions, sometimes different decisions. The moment you do something different, the game is inevitably going to meander off the historical beaten track, if it didn't then there wouldn't be any real decisions.

I like what if scenarios - why not have a divided America, in a world where the Civil war wasn't resolved? Like I say, should be easy enough to mod. Probably not mainstream enough for the initial release though. At least the first one. After the historical modules have come out, maybe paradox will get some what if scenarios made - like Armageddon.

I wouldn't mind a "Divided States of America" DLC as an alternate history startup thing, if only because it'd make the mid- and end-game more interesting, as you wouldn't have a united US powerhouse just crushing the Axis. As the USA, you would need to either try to get the other half of the States to ally with you, or invade and conquer them, before you could take on the Axis with full force.

No.

Crusaders of Iron IV.

Wouldn't it be something like Crusaders of Iron 1?
Or Hearts of Kings, Kings of Hearths or Crusaderkings of Iron 1?
Or maybe Arsenal of Hypocricy.

No but they had to draw the border between Canada and the US somewhere and the surveyors didn't bother doing it differently so Michigan came to be.
Or so I've been told.

That's just what we tell the Michiganites to hide the fact that what actually happened is that we lost a coin toss with Canada to determine who has to keep Michigan. :p

American national dog?
I nominate the Australian Shepherd, which originated in the United States in the 19th century (it's kind of like English Muffins in that way). Why? To confuse everyone else.

Michigan is an important state?

Uh, yeah.

- 3rd largest R&D expenditure in the U.S. (R&D also the highest of any state as a percentage of GDP)
- Roughly $400,000,000,000 (Much higher than many European countries)
- Automotive, Food, IT, Aerospace, Military Equipment, Medical Tech, Copper & Iron ore, General Motors, Ford, Dow Chemical, Lear, etc.
- Longest suspension bridge in the Western Hemisphere.
- Leading research institutions. (For example-- National Superconducting Cyclotron Laboratory)
- pioneered assembly lines mass production.
-Largest State east of Mississippi river.
- Plus, Ohio ended up getting Toledo (see: Toledo War), we ended up getting the U.P. which produced 75-95% of the U.S.'s copper for almost half a century-- among other natural resources (Iron, Timber, Nickel, Silver, etc)
-World's largest supply of liquid fresh water.

Especially relevant to HOI... WW2 production for the allies:
- Oldsmobile alone produced 48,000,000 artillery shells.
- Buick built 1000 aircraft engines per month.
- Willow Run Plant-- 3 B-24s per hour, 8000 total.
- GM built more Grumman Avengers than Grumman did.
- Built half of all U.S. Tanks during the war. (Including all the ones sent to the British, Soviets, etc)
- Trucks, Tanks, Jeeps, Marine Engines, parachutes, 20mm cannons, mess kits, compasses, devices to convert U-238 to U-235, bombsights, aircraft... Pretty much everything.

So yeah.

In addition to that Michigan is pretty much awesome.

Also the Upper Peninsula has large numbers of ethnic Finns and Swedes. (For you Finns and Swedes)
