Observed first game under most recent 1.1 beta. Germany was able to take France but began war against the Low Countries far too early (December 1939). Wasn't able to wrap up the Western Front until May/June 1940, so all in all it took 6 months too long.

Britain also invaded Italy and made some progress for 5-6 months, splitting the peninsula in two before German armor pushed them back to sea after France capitulated. If they had not, they probably would have captured Rome and forced Italy out of the war. They had already taken Sicily and Sardinia by 1940 with France; this is ridiculously ahistorical and it's quite unfeasible that Britain could have launched a prolonged Mediterranean campaign at any point in the war prior to 1943 or American entry. The Italian Navy is sitting at port and pretty much does nothing.

Germany has yet to take Norway or Denmark, the latter is still holding on to Odense and Copenhagen. Norway is completely untouched. About 25 Allied divisions (including an American volunteer division) pretty much make it impossible for them to make any progress. Germany declared on them sometime after Around the Maginot focus.

Bulgaria has an open invitation to the Axis but the AI doesn't seem keen on inviting them.

Lots of problems still. Can't figure out how to upload a save file.

Germany is now transferring all but 7 divisions to Africa theaters. Even the Yugoslav border has been emptied.
And yes, I double checked, this is using the 5d33 build.

I give up. When Germany can transfer it's entire army across the Med to Africa without consequences when the Royal Navy exists and the UK controls Gibraltar it just boggles the imagination. I can accept a little sandbox but at least have a passing whiff of reality. I'll check back in when the next beta build of 1.1 is out.

It also seems that the creation of Vichy is off. Germany sometimes chooses to release it, sometimes doesn't, and even when it does, it is not allocated the same territory that Vichy was historically. It also seems that Vichy starts off at war with the Allies, which it wasn't.

Also noticed Vichy ends up at war with the allies as soon as it is formed. France needs a lot of work, flavor wise including a better fascist name then "Vichy France", a different leader for the fascist route that can be taken in the national focus tree, Petain is not believable. Darkest Hour did it in a way so that Vichy France remained with the French tag and that Free France became its own thing.

Tried new patch today, with soviet union game. I dont see any improvement with AI. He still do weird things with strategic redeployment to the other side of continent.
And enemy AI is just a pushover, no defences, no counterattacks, no suply management. Most of the time he just stand afk in the mountains and die of attrition. He dont even try to fight back, well, Germany didnt even attacked me?
And we realy need some sort of wing management system , deploying 6k planes is worst that HOI3 oob :p

Disagree. Name is historical so is Petain.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vichy_France
Vichy is not an appropriate name for Fascist France because if France became fascist without a German takeover, there would be no reason to move to Vichy. Also, Petain was not fascist but rather a puppet figurehead. This has already been discussed numerous times.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vichy_France
I don't think you really read my post. The formal name was the French State (Etat Francais). It's nickname so to speak was known as Vichy France due to the government being located in the small town of Vichy. And in case of a fascist take over of France prior to the war , the leader would not be Petain but a leader of one of the various right wing groups. (See link below) Petain was not active in politics during the 1930's. I've pointed this out a lot on this forum.

Yes the Marechal Phillippe Pétain is not a true fascist. The true political fascisct leader in France is Marcel Bucard (1933/1936) and Jacques Doriot with the "Parti populaire français (PPF)" of 1936 at 1944. And if France become Fascist with the Focus, its hilarious to think french people move the Capital to the litle city of Vichy and call that "France of Vichy" haha.

Perhaps the debate about naming Vichy can be held elsewhere? Might be slightly off topic in the beta thread.;)

Something is still drastically wrong with the front AI. Playing as Germany, I just saw Italy get the occupation of France because France removed all of their divisions from the alps, and didn't seem to care one bit that Italy was merrily conquering the entire country from the south.

At the same time, Japan (which conquered China in march of 39), has now removed all of their divisions from their now-borders with British Raj and French Indochina. Instead, they've put what looks like close to a 100 divisions on the border with the Soviet Union. Which is strange, considering the Soviet Union is also fighting the Allies.

Also, it might be completely unrelated, but for some reason the Soviet Union also decided to put 130 divisions on their border with Romania, and 0 divisions on the border with me (Germany). Considering Romania is in the Axis, that doesn't seem like a prudent decision.

Well, this has been my worry, guys. This is not the usual beta thing. They have published a broken game. They outsourced R&D and product development to the community. And you are doing the work for them. I will come back in 3 months, once YOUR work has come to fruition. In the meantime, Paradox should consider publishing less games to retain focus. Doing less marketing and online battles and focus on the essentials. Which is: creating an immersive, believable historical game. Major fail.

Seems that part of the problem is the presence of Field Marshals with direct command of unlimited divisions. The battle planner does OK-ish with up to 24 on smaller fronts and plans of attack, but it goes a bit loopy when it has 100+ divisions across long fronts. It can't make up its mind as to what gets assigned where with that many bodies to keep track of.

Perhaps Field Marshals could be assigned to hierarchical command of (no more than # of generals) ? Maybe add in a 3rd "general" type that is useful only to maintain defense commands (garrisons, anti-suppression, defensive command over swaths of terrain)...

IF you have a save game from just prior to this happening Paradox wants a copy of it. They have been trying to find out why the AI does this and need save games prior to the AI doing this.

Can't help but feel there's a massive disconnect between the users and the devs. A few times today we've seen the devs tell us things are working much better now, or big improvements, or "fixed" yet this doesn't seem to be the case at all when we look at what is being reported back. Perhaps the problem is they're working towards things as they were designed while the community wants a completely different design. I dunno, the whole thing feels odd.

The USA seems to (still?) only build garrison brigades.
Their manpower is quite low in that pic, so perhaps the AI won't build proper divisions until the US gears up for war.

In my mind they grew too fast and lost focus on their core strength. Why do we play their games? Because they are immersive historical experiences, where we can go against history, but still within the range of possible. What did they do? Published a myriad of games recently, going for a wider audience, going for growth. We purchased the game on the old promise, I think.

The devs are in my mind truly innocent. I can imagine them reading this and agreeing. At fault are people who dictate strategy.
