you're right, in the game, Military acces is too easy to take, even from Germany. :/

The other games was not like this.

Thank you guys for the work on HoI IV!
I've noticed some core provinces being set wrong, like the Suwalki province in Bialystok for the USSR that became occupied by the Germans historically as a result of the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact. Just a little issue, but hope you guys at Paradox are going to fix those aswell!

@podcat

Any chance of a minimap, ledger and message settings for 1.02? Pretty please? :D

I still have no clue how the Battle of the Atlantic is going and so on. Incredible how they thought we don't need a central place of information.
The ledger doesn't have to be 15 pages long, just 2-3 pages with the comprised most important information. Why not have those guesstimate numbers from the diplo screen compiled together in a ledger for instance?

awesome work! :)my question: I finished a big mod to redraw the map of some regions. Then I entered the '-debug' mode checked and solved all the errors it had found. But my game always CTD the next day in the game. I can't get any help from created files and logs. So where the problem happened? Hope to improve the debug mode!

A ledger style attachment to theaters would be nice, so you could look up logs on how battles were going for each individual area, as well as units lost/killed, etc. Similar to the air statistics.

My guess would be something along the lines of 'chances are slim'.

Last time I checked my software development dictionary, hotfix patches are not for adding features, but for fixing (hence the name) bugs/errors that are either so critical that they can't wait for the normal (full) patch process or are so easy that they can be slipped in.
Put down your dictionary and brush up on your basic comprehension skills.

I said patch 1.02, which according to my software development dictionary would be a patch, not a hotfix. It also wouldn't be 1.01, for which Friday's BETA patch is a test candidate. ;)

Please do me a favor and look at the THREAD TITLE for a second, and then let us parse what it means.
HOI IV = The game it is for
1.0.1 = Notice the second dot, that means this is a minor patch (so yes, you are correct I didn't notice that you left out the 2nd dot)
Hotfix = I already went over this, either small stuff easily fixed or major stuff that needs to be fixed ASAP
BETA = Candidate

So my mistake was assuming that since this is the discussion thread for a minor hotfix candidate that you were talking about a hotfix instead of not the next full patch, but the one after that.

Ye, this is game breaking thing, realy annoying. Can we get a hot fix of that bug asap please?

It's actually not a bug. podcat has said that there are some immensely-difficult issues in place that led to them having the automatic military access. He said that they could look into it in the future, but it appears that because of the very understandable difficulties it might not be soon.

A possible compromise however is allowing player-controlled nations to choose at the start of mutual war to allow access or not, but simply having the AI automatically always choose "yes" to continue addressing whichever AI/mechanical/design difficulties podcat spoke of. If this still causes issues to arise of "when should the AI declare war if refused access?" then we could simply have this choice only be for Germany and the USSR initially until they've had plenty of time to take on whatever challenges have us here at the moment.

I've also seen some other posters suggest that the USSR specifically liberate Poland as a puppet to circumvent a supply issue. I have no understanding of the very tough design challenges right now, but I hope that could also possibly be of some help.

I decided to try the beta since I was having terrible slowdown late game ( I own a decent PC). I'm happy to say that the beta has sorted the freezing for me. There is still some minor slowdown at speed 5 but considering how much the game is processing I can live with that. Finally managed to play a game beyond 1944 yesterday. Not one crash in 8 hours.

One weird issue I came across was the rocket sites. I launched rockets at my neighbour and the V2 rockets fly out and just hang over the enemy city. Once in a while I see an explosion but the sprite is still there hovering over the target.

Just one request, please fix the autopause option so it doesn't unpause the game when I confirm I have read an event message.

I am one of those who was getting high GPU heat. I tried testing various settings including capping my fps externally using RTSS. Capping fps at 120 did not make a large difference but helped slightly. Changing the refresh rate of my display however made a large difference.

Tested by zooming in on a rainstorm for about 1 minute each time with game on pause. At 60Hz there was only about a 2 degree C rise from baseline with game closed and my fans did not spin up. At both 120 Hz and 144 Hz heat spiked over 10 degrees over baseline and fans spun up fast and loud to to keep temps under control. In most games including other Paradox games my fans very rarely spin up at all and usually are pretty quiet if they do.

From my quick and rough testing I think I can conclude that:

- HOI4 is stressing the GPU more than is typical and this suggests a coding issue as mentioned

- Refresh rate is the most significant single contributing setting

- Zooming in on those stormy weather effects will cause heat to spike much faster

- The frame rate cap in the beta patch does help but not as much as reducing refresh rate

Tested using HOI4 v1.0.0.19987 (8899) and HOI4 v1.0.1 (F680)

i7 4790k with extremely large heat sink with fans
GTX980 with typical air cooling
large case with decent airflow

More stats and province names would make the game more immersive for the next patch! Good job on this patch so far. No crashes for me yet with the beta! I am using a gtx 960 so far so no issues with overheating.

Patch fixed late game stuttering :)
Nice!

P.S. Playing on 6 year old rig (i5 3.2Ghz with 5750 Radeon and 6Gb RAM) and surprisingly game is playable on it.

Im glad youre saying that.. because Ive had some stuttering as well after 1943-44 on much similar pc.. i7-2600 3.40Ghz, ATI 6970Radeon and 8gb RAM.

Hello everyone.

My first time posting here, I normally just browse and read.

I purchased HOI IV last week and I'm having terrible problems (seriously, abysmal problems) with FPS.

I'm running an I7 - 4790K with 16GB of Axexir RAM, a Gforce 970GTX Strix, my CPU is liquid cooled and even with the most demanding games my CPU temperature doesn't rise above 35 degrees, nor is its processing power ever challenged. My GPU is not tested in any way by HOI IV and the temperature could be easily controlled by activating the fan and putting it on 30% (most games it runs on passive mode only turning itself on when the temp reaches the limit I set, which is 35 degrees), though that isn't a problem at this stage.

The game runs beautifully on the inexorable march to war, no problems whatsoever. However, as soon as the conflict begins in earnest it drops to the extent that I wonder if someone has replaced my hardware with that of the first PC I bought 20 years ago.

I have updated my drivers, tried all of the suggestions both on this forum and beyond, tried the BETA patch and nothing works at all. I have checked to ensure that the problem isn't my machine and it's not as I can play anything else I wish on ultra spec without difficulty, tried overclocking the GPU (very easy to do with the software that runs it) but nothing helps.

It's clear to me that the game is the bottleneck, as a computer that laughs at high end releases shouldn't struggle with this game, rather for all the available system resources, they stay staggeringly underutilised.

Has anyone encountered similar problems and found a fix?

I'm choking to get stuck into the game and love what I've seen so far, but this problem makes it unplayable (that's not hyperbole, 1 fps) and I'd love to hear any suggestions.

For the record, I want to say that the game looks magnificent, of course there are some bugs in terms of game play, but this issue really needs resolved quickly or I'll have to stop playing as I can do nothing to fix it.

Thanks for reading

Frosthammer

P.S if I'm playing a game that was on 1.00 will I the problems persist after activating 1.01? If so I'll happily start a new run to resolve this issue.

Sorry to hear you're have problems. That is a weird one. If I could throw a few ideas your way, it may be food for thought. Obviously you need to ascertain if it is hardware or software - and it certainly doesn't sound hardware per se, but it could be driver related. If a certain part of the game is stuttering, does it occur everytime at the same point? Does your cpu throttle at all? I used to build water and phase cooled systems and occasionally when a system water reached a certain temp it would throttle, trying to keep the temps down. This could be bios related or controlled via some software - do you use any overclocking software at all? If so, disable it and try it again. This game is definitely a resource hog in places, but it was the same for HOIIII too.

As a last resort you could format it. I had to do this with Football Manager 16. For whatever reason my copy would crash at certain times, and I tried everything to remedy it including getting the dev's involved. In the end a fresh install of Windows 10 resolved all issues. It is a last resort of course but sometimes its the best way.

As far as I am aware 1.01 dealt with the 'stuttering' bug. Are you sure you have it enabled? Have you activated the beta in Steam?
