Even if the game isn't released yet, the modability of HOI3 would be bigger then every pre sequel of this series.

There're a lot of people who want to improve this game were necessary or even give it a personally touch.
The experience showed, that so many people make their own efforts to script events, make graphic improvements and so on.

How about discussing topics, ways of modding, ideas, interchance results in a social group?

I'm certainly not joining because of the battalions idea. That's micromanagement with which I don't agree. Then, sprites in HOI3 are something different because they are 3d models.

Ok done, my main intention was to create a community, where every person, who is interested in modding can post his modding experience, some interesting examples, first tries and ask questions how to do things and so on.

Will you designe every division that you build? How many people will set brigade for every units? There are templates - even in brigade system I dont see why should I design every single division when I want new one...
Its like you have templates - you can make changes to them and build every new division from that 'model'. OTOH - nobody forces people to try such mod.

Doesn't matter. I modded HOI2 in nearly every aspect (except sprites and little AI), but don't have experience in modding EU3.

So let's learn, talk about it and teach others..:)

I certainly mangled HoI2 with my modding as well. Most of it was for my own personal use, but I was involved in one notable group effort, the community leader and minister improvement project. IIRC it was in patch 1.2 that Paradox implemented most of the changes we had made up to that time, making them pretty official. :D

I'll probably end up with a similar project for HoI3, no doubt.

Rather the opposite for me. I did some small tweaking with HOI2, but only really got into modding with EU3 & EUR. We'll see how much of that modding community ends up working on HOI3 - at the very least I know who to go to for information about each aspect of the engine.

For myself I became mind-numbingly familiar with scripting (events, decisions, missions, AI scripting), defines and localisation...and a few other things that won't really help with HOI3, like units (far, far simpler in EU3/EUR). My last dabble was with map editing, hopefully I can hone that skill to be of some use (it can be quite a bitch, let me tell you).

I never really got into modding for the new engine. That's probably because I never really got into EU3, and don't have Rome. Still, I'll probably pick it up well enough with exposure. I always do.

I also didnt mod the EU3 - only looked through the files and checked how it works. In HoI2 I modded a lot for my own purpose mostly. We had a bigger project but the news about HoI3 changed our plans.

if we have any impact on development at all, excellent.
my main wish, more than pretty much anything else atm, is simply the freedom to either customise the single cag on a carrier by carrier basis, or the game to allow different versions and to be able to mount more than one cag per carrier, prefereably with no upper limit(ie, 10 plane groups possible, allows for HIGH granularity)
