Allright, first of all, this is my very first game of HoI3, never been into grand strategy games.

I am playing with germany, it's the year 1951 and i'm very close to finally permanently secure Europe from the invasion(s) of the USA. (Soviet Union is defeated, UK too) They managed to invade me many times and almost got to Berlin, but i managed to reoganize my troops, halt their advance and push them back. Now, i have something like 20+ nukes but i don't want to use them, since i'm not a monster (i know it's a game) and i prefere the old fashioned way to conquer the world by guns and tanks. The problem is that the USA now has the atomic bomb, and used one on a unimportant province in the northern part of Germany. That scared me a lot, and even if i managed to kick the USA out of Europe, i'm pretty sure they will spawn nukes everywhere they can. And i don't want this.

SO, my fellows dictators, commanders, presidents and so on, is there a way to disable nukes usage in HoI3TFH (in a running game 1951/52)?

Btw i have read many other similar topics but they didn't help. Don't tell me to keep the USA out of range because i know it's a solution, but i'm not that good in this game.

Please say yes, i would like to go all down the way to conquer the world to become familiar with the game, and then play the "perfect" game, oops, i'm already dreaming.

Thanks in advance! :)

I wouldn't worry *too* much about their nukes - it's unlikely the AI will be able to build enough to end you outright - they'd need 100+ nukes and they'd have to use all of them rather effectively I'd wager which A.) I don't think is really possible unless you're playing on Very Hard (which would give the USA the IC and leadership required to have been building nukes since like 1942-43 or so) B.) the AI doesn't select targets for nukes like a human would so sometimes they bomb lots of unimportant stuff as you've already seen.

Thanks for the anserw! I know i shouldn't worry too much about USA's nukes. But what i was looking for, is someone who could tell me which variable to modify to make nukes disappear in game or at least make them impossible/too expansive to produce. I've already made by myself a trip inside the game's folder, modyfing for example the limit of recruitable waffen ss or make the game last longer. So i was wondering (and hoping) that there is a similar way to get rid of nukes.
Thanks again for the anserw.

Ps: I really want to get rid of nukes also for the "immersion". Even if i can win the war and conquer the world it would be extremely annoying to me knowing that a few nukes exploded in my home territory. I just don't feel it "right".

It is just a thought, I havent checked this, but you could try editing the save-game and changing the number of enemy nukes to zero.

Kriegkopf, i've done it (actually i completely deleted the line) but after loading the savegame and a few weeks passed by the line was back and USA was producing nukes again. Maybe this is the only way, every 2/3 weeks go to savegame file and delete that line, but it's not really effective. (I know, i'm lazy as f***)

Btw i've read somewhere that when you start a new game you can solve the "nuke problem" by setting a new year to the tecnology linked to nukes, like 2050 or something like that. Can someone gently tell me exactly how to do this?

Oh and another question. As i said before, i modified a few lines (more waffen SS recruitable, game lasting longer) but if i want to go back to vanilla version is it enough to repair the game via steam? Also if i download a mod like "Black Ice" the fact i've modified some lines will f*** up the game?

Again, thanks in advance to everyone who will anserw. :)

If yu want to load a mod you should first go back to a vanilla game just for the sake of avoding confusion. :)

There is probably a way to do exactly what you want with nukes, but I cant say what that is. IN DEFINES folder, you could change NUKE UNITY IMPACT to 0 or 0.001 or something, and that way, nukes going off in your country wouldnt impact anything much as far as dissent goes. Then, you need to find the nuke-damage-modifier, I guess, and change that. If you do this for Black Ice, make sure you do it in the Black Ice folder, not the vanilla one.

Personally, I dont even research nukes, because, playing as germany, my game is usually over by 1944, soviets and england defeated, and sometimes, maybe I will invade the USA, which goes fast once youve landed on their beaches, but is rather boring once youve done it a few times.

Black Ice uses its own files for those things youve changed, but, Count Blue is correct, you should always start with a clean version when modding!

I play with Black Ice, and I have done some serious modding on their files, added new leaders, added leader traits, tweaked skill-levels, changed province resources and leadership, added or changed a few divisions with events, added events, changed costs for various planes/ships/and automobiles, changed attack/defense stats for various units, and the list goes on. Generally, I do this to make gameplay more challenging, but in some cases, like for the stacking penalty on air-superiority, or for more leaders with the logistics-wizard trait, to make the gameplay less tedious.

Anyway, hope this helps.

A better long-term solution would be to edit the save file so that the allies (US, UK, SOV) never build a nuclear reactor site. This is doable as Italy is programmed to never build a rocket test site. Not sure how to do it for the other nations.

EDIT - For your particular case, the Allies already have a nuclear site. You can edit it out of the province.
