The 3D discussion is as old as EU3 - and there Johan said (maybe someone can find the quote and put it here), that 3D was not added for graphics sake, but to easy CPU usage.

I believe you. I just don't see any benefits. It doesn't really drain my hardware, but still runs jerky. It's bad optimisation and it will probably be fixed, i know, but i was speaking to people who accept it as something normal.

I guess there is some sort of loophole or leak within the engine / scripts / alike. I had a similar problem in EU3 until IN, the game just lagged itself to death when selecting a combat. Hopefully it is only a minor issue taht will be solved quickly.

Though I have to admit it is strange that the game neither uses CPU, GPU or Ram at max while lagging...

Again, I doubt that this is the entire issue. My GF 6800 killed itself a few weeks ago, so I have a brand new GPU, quadrupled RAM, yet none of the components is nearby 75% usage while playing...

An exmaple how the demo CPU/RAM usage looks like on my system - left and right are from the same game, with the right screen just secs after quitting the Demo. Oddly enough tabbing the game seemed to switch main CPU usage from unit #1 to unit #2.

We just went out and bought a generic highend gaming machine with specs common to some that have problem here.

And yes, its far laggier and choppier on that machine to play than on my old desktop (Intel Core Duo 2.4ghz, 2gb ram, geforce 7900)...

We're looking into that asap.

Oh dont be so naive! Obviously they just wanted to play some high-end FPS while they make the intern tell us soothing stories... juuuuuuuust kidding. ;P

I'd prefer to sit in the sun and sip a wine now but..

This is why I love Paradox Interactive and will always buy from them! I confident you guys can find a solution to this, at least I have high hopes you can. I played the demo even though it was horribly choppy and it crashed during a lot of battles.

But again, I have hope this will be resolved, so I a buying the game anyway. Thank you!

We're not gonna get fixes for that in for tomorrows release patch though, but hopefully ASAP.

(And no, it was not a drivers issue..)

We also got some different ATI cards to track down some graphics problems some people with those seem to get.
