I had planned on getting Doomsday, but Ive enjoyed playing HOI2 very much. This wouldnt be a problem except that I moved very recently and cannot, despite large seaches, locate my disk for a reinstall on my new HDD. I saw on the Gamestop site that this "expansion" is really stand alone. Can one play the original HOI2 if one wished with the Doomsday disk? If so Ill simple buy that (as planned anyway). I was simply going to order the multigame pack that was offered in the Paradox shop, but I was detered when I saw no "padlock" in the order screen and checking the "about security" link on the shop site produced a page that says no such site. Email to support contact has not yielded a reply about this issue. I have not been able to find a mailing address to send a check, but then they may not want USD to convert, either way, the two pack offer is now gone. I cant find HOI2 in any stores, and I have looked, and looked. Ah well I guess Ill try Doomsday and like it, Im sure.

DD is standalone, this means that it's Hoi2 with expansion so you don't need the Hoi2 installment, infact, it's almost required that you uninstall Hoi2 before you install DD.
You will not be able to play your original game, only the expansion. But this expansion does include the same scenarios as the original does (plus an extra one).
The effect is that you can play the '36 scenario, but you can't turn off the new features (like intelligence).

I've had no trouble with parallel installs of HOI-2 v1.3b and Doomsday, and I can play both with no problem.

It even patches the proper one, with no prompting from me...

You should not say such things without mentioning that both DD and Hoi2 have .exe files that are called Hoi2. People might think that they can easily just install both without any hassle, and that is just not the case.
If you got two paths in your registry pointing to a file that is called the same ting, you are asking for trouble.

It can be done, yes and quite easily as well (I also had 'em both for awhile), but it's not something that the average Joe know how to fix (messing with your registry can be follhardy).

I have both games installed on my D drive in a Paradox folder. Works perfect. No registry fixing was needed and thank god for that, wouldn't know how to do it...

I also have both games installed without any troubles.

As to why i still have HoI 2 installed after getting DD, its a combination of DD being so full of nasty bugs it was unplayable, and being too lazy to uninstall :)

I have HoI2 and DD installed on the same drive both in Paradox folder. I have not have ANY problems with patching, running, etc. I have instelled mods, edited files, etc. and still absolutely no problems from both games being there.
