Here's my favorite part:

If Hearts of Iron was the rough diamond extracted from the earth, Hearts of Iron 2 is the same gem having undergone the treatment of a master craftsman, polished to perfection and presented to a beautiful princess on an engagement ring.

Wargamer is where I first learned about HOI1 ... so for nostalgic reasons I'm especially happy that they're so enthusiastic about the sequel.

Strategic wargames (not RTS like Sudden Strike/Close Combat etc.) as such are
already pretty niche ... the closer they are to reality and the less they focus on the combat alone the more trouble they will have on the Big non-specialized Gamessites ... that's my take on the situation

One of the few serious wargaming sites both for board and computer wargames. I remember a few of their guys from the Strategy & Tactics days when reading a wargame review meant reading a magazine! This review means more to me than some others I have seen.

Now, if only my pre-order would arrive...

excellent review

however one little nitpick = safeguarding your industry by means of regional protection area's isn't so illogical. Who will know what the real target will be of the bombers,

also during WWII some inland airfields where used to safeguard routes - before they reached industry heartland,

well when you've got 1 precious piece of land surrounded by some worthless territories, one can guess what the bombers will be going for...and I can understand it is frustrating when your planes keep patrolling the worthless provinces instead of defending what really needs to be defended.

Wonderful!! Not that I really like HOI, but hopefully Paradox will make loads of cash, and then make a EU3 or a Vicky 2.
