How do I make and apply my own flag designs? I'd like to replace the American flag with one that isn't backwards like in the game. Also is it possible to have the game change flags to reflect certain changes (eg switching to the 50-star American flag in 1950ish, replacing the 1918 German flag with the current one)?

To make your own shields/flags, I think that you will need photoshop. It can be downloaded as a free trial version here: http://www.adobe.com/
When you have downloaded it, you'll need to download a flagmaker file that will help you out with your flagmaking. A Readme file is often included.

If you think this is too much to learn and do, you could just leave your request here and a flagmaker here at the forum will do it for you.
Could this be any help or do you just need instructions how to replace a shield/flag in the gfx-folder?

About the other question, I believe it would have been nice to have a system like the one in Victoria where the flag change according to history, change of ideologi and so on. But I don't think it's possible in HoI except using the U-tags maybee..
