Australia-Hungary :
With the foci I beelined to going commie and down that line (when possible, grabbing the industrial foci when not) all the way to getting New Zealand as a puppet (via joining the Comintern). New Zealand's troops will be needed.
There is an election, iirc September 37 which should turn you Communist, and with that I started to increase communist support in Hungary. This way, support for the fascists in Hungary falls and they can't renounce Trianon (and therefore end up joining the Axis when you eventually attack them).
Mid to late 38 started to justify on Turkey. Two reasons, to secure the Bosphorus and gain access to the Black Sea but also as they are guaranteed by Romania, my real target. War was timed to kick off around Jan - Mar 39, by which time I had 10 Australian and 6 Kiwi divisions sitting in the Ukraine, along with some CAS and NAV. These latter are important and the first thing that needs to happen is for the Soviets to gain naval superiority in the Black Sea, which turns out to be a rather close affair but they manage with the air support.
They key in this stage is to gain as much warscore against Romania as possible, at least 25% or so, otherwise the Soviets will puppet Romania and take some of they key 4 states you need (with the Hungarian cores).
Hence, the first 10 divisions of naval landings landed in Southern Romania and immediately headed to take Bucherest, Ploesti and Brasov. Ignoring the land fronts in the Caucasus and Bessarabia, the rest of the troops followed the naval invasion bar two who landed in undefended Istanbul, took the straits and set up to hold them.
In Romania the key is to try and rush the weatern VPs, Cluj and Ordo (?) for the warscore whilst engaging the Romanians as hard as possible, as you are racing against the Soviets basically. You really need to be taking the VPs before or just as the Soviets take Iasi.
Took a couple of attempts, but just managed it.
Meanwhile, you should be justifying on Hungary, with the aim of the justification being ready after Turkey has fallen. (I cut it a bit close with an August 39 completion, meaning I had to abandon the Turkish front to rush to the Hugarian front in time. I had done enough at least to claim Istanbul, but nothing else juicy, just Trabizon). You can possibly wait, but I was concerned that if I took too long, with an understrength army, that Barbarossa might start which might complicate matters somehow).
When Romania capitulates, take the 4 Hungarian cores in the peacedeal, and then move everything to Turkey to grab as much warscore as you can, and to help the Soviets finish the war. Really getting Istanbul in the peace deal is good enough, though anything else is obviously better.
Once that is done, Hungary, hopefully around the same time as Danzig kicks off further north.
Due to previous interference in their politics Hungary will be unaligned and friendless. And with the newly annexed Romanian provinces, you have a land border, so need need for calling up the greedy Soviets. Attack Hungary, defeat them one on one, annex, claim achievement.
Edit - I should mention, this, as with the Byzantophile run, was with historical focus on - more predictable
