How the hell do you deal with Venezuela? I have tried 10-0, 7-2 units more than four times, but I cannot seem to take more than one province before the front becomes a stalemate. Also, they have way more manpower, so one of the suggestions from wiki of driving their manpower down wouldn't work, as I lose it way faster than they (they have around 300k+) .

Terrain modifiers are just crazy - should rush and use mountaineers? Add more artillery for soft attack?

I had no problem dealing with Venezuela, all they have is just some lousy infantry with some artillery sprinkled here and there. Their terrain wasn't a problem for me as well.

What division template did you use? My troops get pinned down and cannot do anything.

At the start of the run it was around 3-4 CAV, then expanded with Support Art. Later division template was succesfully expanded into more CAV (10 CAV, ENG, Support ART) or something like that.*

* It's good to add that as El Salvador

Venezuela becomes pretty strong over time, so better attack them rather early.

Also use your command power, Force Attack and Defend are really powerfull, and don't cost as much with 12 x 10/0 Inf

I disposed Venezuela in '41 or '40, so it's not a big deal. Venezuela is IMO pretty easy to deal with, they don't have that much horrible terrain to deal with. Peru/Chile are in general much more scary with their mountains everywhere :p

Peru is a fucking Nightmare.
It was okay when you could outfit your completly Army as Marines/Mountaineers Hybrids.
But know you best bet is pushing along the coast with Force Attack, and competly ignoring inlands, until you are at the capital. Then you can try to cut off the Main Army and Captuaring the Captial and the southern City.

For me they didn't join the Allies, when I attacked Mexico.
Since noone of these two join a Faction, you can Peacedeal Mexico, while fighting on against USA. You have a nice border, and a good supply situation, since there are no partisans in Mexico.
This does indeed seem to prevent the United States from joining the Allies. Even after annexing Mexico, the US stayed out of a faction, at least until Germany attacked Poland. This took me two attempts to get right. During the first attempt my invasion of Mexico was too slow and methodical, and I got bogged down fighting them in the mountains. By late 1938 the US military output began to outstrip mine, so the war dragged on until 1940 with no obvious resolution in sight. Even though they were 35% occupied, they could still replace all of their lost equipment, whereas I was struggling to replace mine. During my second attempt I once again did a naval invasion in Baja California. But instead of attempting to force my way out of the peninsula by land, which was blocked by seven Mexican divisions, I drew a five-division invasion from Baja California to an adjacent Mexican port. Then once I had secured the port, I immediately invaded with the rest of my 50 or so divisions. I put their stance on aggressive to prevent Mexico and the US from forming a coherent front, allowing me to secure Mexico City and all the other victory points in the south. Mexico capitulated in a month or two. Half the US army was trapped in Baja California, so I met almost no resistance in my invasion. The US capitulated by mid-1938.

Naval invasion round the back, then encircle.

I fabricated on Bulgaria and Yugoslavia at same time. Bulgaria first though. Declare war on Bulgaria but don’t win. Just get close to winning. Wait until fabrication is done on Yugoslavia then declare war. Now finish war against Bulgaria and annex. Did a couple tests and not once did the allies guarantee either nation and neither nation joined allies.

This is exactly the way I did it as well, after running a couple of tests.
It's all about minimising the amount of war tension you generate, hence my war with Bulgaria I quickly encircled half their army on the border and destroyed it before pushing up to a line parallel with Sofia and holding there (6 province long defence line iirc, with Bulgaria left at 98 - 99% to capitulation. (An added bonus is that you get to use Bulgaria's occupied factories for longer)

I had actually forgotten about the Czech guarantee, but it is not an issue as they quietly drop it when Italy starts their Yugoslav focus (some time around Oct/Nov 37).

As I had gone fascist (for the early wars and extra mp), I joined the Axis, but with no intention of ever sharing wars with them, only so I didn't end up at war with Germany, and more importantly, to stop Italy joining the Axis. 69 days after Italy started focusing the Pact of Steel, I declared war. No Axis for them, and, no Allies either as they are fascist. Not mixing my wars with Germany kept it that way - until '43 anyway. Allowed me 4 years of sitzkrieg in Istria while I dealt with Romania and built up. Although the war was a disaster for the Axis, Germany capitulated near the end of '42, it was all going swimmingly for me until Japan surrendered, at which point it almost went to hell. The day after, Soviet Union DoWs the new democratic Japan which had been guaranteed by Italy. Japan joins the allies and drags Italy in along with them. Turkey then joins the allies due to being at war with me and me being at war with now Allied Italy and it now became a race to defeat Turkey before the Soviets could capture a single province (who now were at war with Turkey due to the Japan link).

For the Byzantophile achievement, I've had numerous attempts, and finally have one that looks like it'll work. I'm one state in Romania away from turning purple.

I think the key (at least, the most consistently good approach) is to go historical focus off, justify both Bulgaria and Yugo at the same time, and basically never join a faction unless you have to to avoid war.

Australia-Hungary :
With the foci I beelined to going commie and down that line (when possible, grabbing the industrial foci when not) all the way to getting New Zealand as a puppet (via joining the Comintern). New Zealand's troops will be needed.
There is an election, iirc September 37 which should turn you Communist, and with that I started to increase communist support in Hungary. This way, support for the fascists in Hungary falls and they can't renounce Trianon (and therefore end up joining the Axis when you eventually attack them).
Mid to late 38 started to justify on Turkey. Two reasons, to secure the Bosphorus and gain access to the Black Sea but also as they are guaranteed by Romania, my real target. War was timed to kick off around Jan - Mar 39, by which time I had 10 Australian and 6 Kiwi divisions sitting in the Ukraine, along with some CAS and NAV. These latter are important and the first thing that needs to happen is for the Soviets to gain naval superiority in the Black Sea, which turns out to be a rather close affair but they manage with the air support.
They key in this stage is to gain as much warscore against Romania as possible, at least 25% or so, otherwise the Soviets will puppet Romania and take some of they key 4 states you need (with the Hungarian cores).
Hence, the first 10 divisions of naval landings landed in Southern Romania and immediately headed to take Bucherest, Ploesti and Brasov. Ignoring the land fronts in the Caucasus and Bessarabia, the rest of the troops followed the naval invasion bar two who landed in undefended Istanbul, took the straits and set up to hold them.
In Romania the key is to try and rush the weatern VPs, Cluj and Ordo (?) for the warscore whilst engaging the Romanians as hard as possible, as you are racing against the Soviets basically. You really need to be taking the VPs before or just as the Soviets take Iasi.
Took a couple of attempts, but just managed it.
Meanwhile, you should be justifying on Hungary, with the aim of the justification being ready after Turkey has fallen. (I cut it a bit close with an August 39 completion, meaning I had to abandon the Turkish front to rush to the Hugarian front in time. I had done enough at least to claim Istanbul, but nothing else juicy, just Trabizon). You can possibly wait, but I was concerned that if I took too long, with an understrength army, that Barbarossa might start which might complicate matters somehow).
When Romania capitulates, take the 4 Hungarian cores in the peacedeal, and then move everything to Turkey to grab as much warscore as you can, and to help the Soviets finish the war. Really getting Istanbul in the peace deal is good enough, though anything else is obviously better.
Once that is done, Hungary, hopefully around the same time as Danzig kicks off further north.
Due to previous interference in their politics Hungary will be unaligned and friendless. And with the newly annexed Romanian provinces, you have a land border, so need need for calling up the greedy Soviets. Attack Hungary, defeat them one on one, annex, claim achievement.

Edit - I should mention, this, as with the Byzantophile run, was with historical focus on - more predictable

With v1.5.2, The people have stood up is very different to complete than before. We only need now the original provinces from Nationalist china.

I joined the Komintern and took the 3 warlords north of china. I called them into war only for the last warlord.
During that time, i prepared a justification against nationalist china. When the russian units were ready at my border with nat china, i declared war. It was before the marco polo bridge incident. I focused with my powerful troops near beijing. The idea was to cut the way of japan when they'll attack china.
I don't know if i was lucky or not, but japan did not attack Nat china. They instead dow'ed me.
China did not have the time to create the United front, so they were alone. The Ussr had 80% of the warscore when china capitulated, but i could take every regions, and i received the achievement.
Concerning the war with Japan, we pushed them back off the mainland, but could not invade them (for moment).

I then joined the Ussr against the Axis. When they capitulated, i could take enough regions in Europe to have 100+ war industries for the Made in China achievement.

After that i could invade Japan. I was surprised that i could take every regions there.

Now, my best general was level 8 and 65%. I launched a war against the Allied just for mister general's xp. When he hit level 9, i promoted him marshall and received Sun Tzu reborn achievement.

Have fun :)
I had fun playing this campaign.

For battlecry, can I also just take over the Chinese government or do I need to conquer China in border and real wars?

When I made "My Ships Don't Lie" I switched fascist ASAP, declared on Equador, Venezuela, Peru and Panama (in that order). Panama had zero troops (is that always the case?), which helped of course a lot. They joined Allies, but luckily didn't call them.
After that I built NIC and tried to increase naval production as much as possible, created queues for 10 BB and 10 CV, set the game to speed 5 and took a nap (figuratively).
Game was finished in '46. My last war was concluded in '41 or so so Pax Americana didn't trigger (historical focus on). The first part of the game was pretty fun and exciting. The second part not so much...

@Duke_Dave

Refering to the wiki, for Battlecry, you will have to fight against : Japan, Allied for the 3 small provinces, and Axis if vichy was created (because of Gwangzou) ... and win the wars !

Still in the wiki, for awake and angry (which is still nearly the same achievement as battlecry), they suggest to play non historical. And if vichy is created then restart.
