Dude, those are Italian subs. Not exactly U-Boat wolfpacks, are they?

I'm amazed that those 26 Italian subs don't surrender to the 1 British convoy. :D

Hoping it's one of 2 things (or both)

On map display of effectiveness of trade routes and interdiction of trade routes, and the better ability to cancel trades/supply routes that seem too costly (most likely)?
or
As the 'x' line is also what they use as the fallback line on land, that it's a line in the ocean where a fleet is patrolling that you can now select newly built ships (or groups of ships set at player's discretion for safety) to go join when they're completed?

Jokes aside, It's very unrealistic to think that Italy alone could "starve Britain", we don't know if there are any German U-boats deployed there as well or even if the Royal Navy has any countermeasures in the region for that matter.
And even just taking the screenshot by itself, there's a battle going on there, with the subs having sunk one convoy and are engaging the other.
So it looks this trade route with 2 convoys has lost one and is now at 50%, but is in the process of losing the other one, so it's soon to be 100%, nothing wrong there.
All in all, until we actually learn what's going on there, I'm very exited about this. Even more so because I had no expectations for new features at this point.

I would love a Germany game where its feasible to build a couple hundred subs and force Great Britain into submission instead of conquering it with one carrier and 24 divisions in 1940. I've done this often enough now to be tired of it. This would be the first of hopefully many steps in the right direction.

This might just be a map QoL visual which supply routes are running on low efficiency (hence the XXXXX) so I'd say it's a DD about quality of life additions.
