HI All,

Whilst I really enjoy playing HOI IV there doesn't seem to be a suggestion box on this site. So I thought I would post some thoughts for improvement or adjustments.

GUI:
  1. I think there are too many useless pop ups, that interrupt me and maybe slow down the game. So bring back the message bar\window in the bottom of the screen and let me turn off all pop ups if i want to. Then the message can appear in the window and I can pause the game and go back and find it I want to.
  2. More statistics. I would like to have one window that shows all the divisions, air wings and naval groups with their battle statistics. I know that you can view this information by theater, but having one window for all is much easier and quicker to compare what is happening. This particularly relevant for Air and Naval results, with there being too many windows to click through find the numbers.

Army:
  1. OOB, bring back the OOB structure we had in HOI III. I personally loved the FM-Gen-HQ structure and the bonuses that applied through the Army groups you set up. It really made use all of the General traits and was a good flavor\immersion feature. Attaching Air Force wings to different army levels\groups was great. Different battles need different planes so this is a great way use air wings were you need them. E.g if you have an army group defending a coast line you wont necessarily need strat or tac bombers.
  2. Elite units, I know you can use the elite button in the division template builder. But this doesn't make any difference on the map. So there really isn't any flavor added to the game when you do this.We need a way for the elite division to stick out e.g. by color or elite sprites
  3. Commando's, could have even have special mission types, like being able to attack a naval base and try to sink ships, attack\disrupt\slow a nuclear installation (ties in with intelligence). Also add the actual special forces that each country used. Commando's for UK, Commando's Z for Australia, Army Rangers for the US etc.. The Black Ice mod does this to a certain extent with color and names.

Naval:
  1. Bring back the flag ship option and the small bonus it had, with the effect on national unity when it is finished being built and also if it is sunk. This is a great flavor option and helps the player get attached and care about trying to keep that ship alive.
  2. Subs seem to be very under powered even if i customize and boost there stats they are always sunk. Maybe a go 'deep and silent' feature could be added to decrease there chances of being hit & sunk. This could be based on a national focus or naval doctrine.
  3. A Remove damaged ships button, many times i really want to use a fleet that is in a base but some of the ships are repairing. Then I have to work out the name & type of each ship and manually remove it before using that fleet. If a remove all damaged ships button was added this make it much quicker.

Air:
  1. Ace Pilots, whilst this is a great feature and add's some badly needed flavor. The pops up are too intrusive for me and I just ignore them. So give us the option to turn off the pop up ( if you can already I haven't' found it). The ace Pilots message could appear in the message window and be listed in the statistic panel\window.
Intelligence:
  1. This feature was completely removed from HOI IV and I have thought of a way it could be added back in to the game. If each country had special national projects they could build e.g USA hoover dam, Manhattan project, Germany V1 & V2 rockets, UK Dam Busters bomb. Then depending on what your competing encryption levels are and how experienced your spies are you could get to see a combination of things;
    1. 1 see what the enemy country is actually building or researching for a short period
      1. 2 See battle plans for a front
        1. 3. find that special project they just build and perhaps use small elite division to go behind enemy lines and destroy it or even try to bomb it e.g dam busters.
General:
  1. Late game performance is still slow and needs improving.
  2. Being able to offer peace terms. Playing as Germany why can't I offer peace terms to the USA after defeating the UK? ( though it might be very hard to get USA to agree).
  3. Expeditionary forces, I like this feature but why I can't click a button and return them to the origin country once I am finished with them.
  4. Propaganda, if there was a news item for big or famous events. Such as after a glorious victory or defeat e.g UK the Bismark is sunk, Germany the HMS Hood is sunk, Japan X numbers of ships sunk at Perl Harbor, the start of a big theater battle.
  5. Too many non aggression offers from the same countries. If I say no it should be at least 12 months before they offer it again or even never.
