Description of issue
Winning civil war as DEIs magically transforms me into an Australian puppet

Game Version
1.9.1beta[05ef]

Enabled DLC
All of the above

No

Description
Playing as the Dutch East Indies, I choosed a fascist advisor and started a civil war for independence as Sukarno / Indonesian Order. In the moment I won it and annexed the the rest of the territories, my leader is transformed into Frits the Hollander leading a democratic regime and I'm now a puppet of Australia named "Australian East Indies".

I have no idea what could cause this. Apart from some German and Italian voluntaries, no other participated in the war. I also checked the Dutch and Australian national focus trees, but found no explanation.

Steps to Reproduce
1. Load the save
2. Taking the two islands shown with the red arrows in the 1st pic should trigger the peace treaty.

This post never been reviewed again, same with other posts in relevant topic mentioned. So i guess devs just don't care about bug reports. Whats the point of us reporting via this website. 3 years and never been fixed.

I'm not completely sure if no response (by getting marked with a bug state information or even an offical answer post) means that things are ignored or forgotten, but I agree that it is frustrating and rises questions (why did bug X get visible attention and not my bug Y? Is it helpful for devs to "revive" my old, orphaned report when a new version comes out and the bug comes up again? Or should I create a duplicate thread then?).

According to this thread ( https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/foru...n-charge-of-the-bug-report-sub-forum.1528198/ ) about the (similar) situation in CK3 bug sub-forum this isn't the case ("bug reports are still processed" - and I don't see any reason why it should be different for HoI4), but the official statement also concedes that the process could be more transparent.

My guess is that lacking response is due to a shortage of staff being able to monitor the bug forums on a day-by-day base (and likely focussing more on responding would slow down the fixing/internal processing even more) - and if I assume for the moment that this bug hasn't gone unnoticed it could be just that its ranked low prority (few players playing generic minor states in HoI4 likely) and might get cleaned up the moment SE asia gets hit by a DLC. Still I agree with you that the complete silence isn't motivating - I would even appreciate a "Thank you, noted...but low priority" more.

Same newer thread.
Even if this would be low-priority bug it should be possible to fixed this under 2 minutes. By adding requirement that Australia should complete specific national focus (look at link).

90% of all HOI4 bugs are so they could be fixed in 2 minutes. But thats not doable with the current approach of only doing updates after a DLC, since those mostly focus on new bugs. The backlog is just massive and only grows unfortunately. The new monthly updates also dont help since the last one actually added bugs back...

In the Australian focus tree from Together For Victory, the fascist path involves boosting fascism support in DEI and eventually triggering a civil war there. If that civil war is won, then DEI becomes an Australian puppet. It seems possible that event is being fired incorrectly even when DEI does a fascist civil war independently.

Side note: I'm no game developer, but I've worked enough software projects to know that sometimes even the simplest seeming bugs can be incredibly tricky to nail down and that the sheer quantity of bugs can make prioritizing and managing a backlog of issues take a lot of work. The developers and QA team are no doubt doing the best they can to get through them all. We shouldn't be giving them a hard time - though I do think we should encourage Paradox (the employers of those hard workers) to grow and support those teams as much as possible. (I love that Stellaris has a "Custodian" team geared specifically to keeping the overall platform in good shape, and would be happy if HoI4 got one too!)
