HOI 4 Weapons for sprites

How does one go about changing the weapon for a sprite I tried to add a stg 44 to the German sprite and it was just a solid black stg 44 with no color id assume this is because the dds file wasn't used in the folder, but I cant find where to put the weapon dds folder the games doesn't seem to have anywhere to put them any help would be appreciated

Go into
https://accounts.paradoxplaza.com/settings
and connect to your Steam account, then
https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/index.php?account/owneditems
and hit Sync Owned Items.

Then you can post this in the HOI4 Tech Support forum, where it belongs. Thanks.
