Description
Using custom game settings I made USA and Mexico go communist. Mexico turned communist but USA didn't, it even declared war in germany in 1939? And now it is in the allies.

This wasn't the scenario I was hoping for.

Just had a similar thing with the UK in my Democratic Germany. Told UK to go historical. It took 'A change in course'. It's done half the decolonisation tree, so it's probably going communist.

Of course, it did it in 1938-9, so I've wasted a few hours playing a scenario I explicitly wanted to avoid.

That is because the communist path needs an advisor, and the AI doesn't do that. If you tag switch to the USA and hire the advisor, it works.

That is because the communist path needs an advisor, and the AI doesn't do that. If you tag switch to the USA and hire the advisor, it works.

In the game I was posting about here, (soon to be) fascist France used the fascist demagogue. And IIRC the 1.6 patch notes did say the AI will hire ideology advisors if the political path chosen/directed has one.

I have WtT, so probably not.

EDIT: Apologies - France was a bad example as the French focus trees adds them, but it's true that other countries still won't get these ministers.

For example, the UK advisors are never added because the AI has 0 chance of ever selecting them.

So I restarted this game right from scratch. Checked and triple checked the custom rules, told The UK to go democrat (historical). Early 1937 they take 'A change of course'. Definately a bug somewhere.
