Description
It's great that old "Quebec" state has been split up, but some of the names don't entirely make sense. In particular, the Mauricie state (which I assume is what "Maurice" is a typo for) doesn't actually contain most of the Mauricie region, and instead covers most of Saguenay. The state that is currently called Saguenay doesn't really have anything of note and should probably be merged back into Nord du Quebec - if you need to keep it, I might name it after one of the lakes it borders (e.g. Manicougan or Mistassini), though none of them are really great names. The province that makes up the islands north of Quebec should also be moved to the Nunavut state, as they have never been part of Quebec.

I would also suggest the following renames:
- Nord du Quebec -> Nouveau-Québec (more period-appropriate name)
- Nunavut -> Keewatin (the name of the district that covered the area during WW2)
- Northwest Territories -> Mackenzie (the Northwest Territories included what is now Nunavut during this time period, the current state was mostly covered by the District of Mackenzie)

Finally I would also really like to petition that the "Labrador and Newfoundland" air region be renamed to "Newfoundland and Labrador", as no one would ever refer to those two areas with Labrador first.

"(more period-appropriate name)"

Good point about period appropriate names.

The Queen Charlotte Islands?

1664327672153.png

During WW2, these Canadian islands were known as the Queen Charlotte Islands.

"On December 11, 2009, the British Columbia government announced that legislation would be introduced in mid-2010 to officially rename the Queen Charlotte Islands to the new name "Haida Gwaii". The legislation received royal assent on June 3, 2010, formalizing the name change.[2] At an official Giving Back the Name ceremony, the name, written on a piece of paper and placed in a bentwood box, was handed to the premier of British Columbia.[4] This name change is officially recognized by all levels of Canadian governments,[41] and also by the United States' National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency name database.[42] The name Haida Gwaii is a modern coinage and was created in the early 1980s as an alternative to the colonial-era name "Queen Charlotte Islands", to recognize the history of the Haida people.[2] "Haida Gwaii" means "islands of the people",[4] while Haida on its own means not only "us" but also "people".
