Issue started happening today and have not found a way to get rid of it, not being able to play the game.

No recent change that I can think off, I have already tried reinstalled a fresh game and have the same error

Note that if you follow the steps suggested by the error, the mods end up all messed up, even after reinstall so I will be working to unsusbscribe and subscribe again to all mods with a fresh install. the mods are only present as 'subscribed' in the steam workshop, and in a playset in the launcher, not enabled in the game so not sure why they got messed up

Steps to Reproduce
1-Start the game
2-Get the error
3-Delete the file as instructed
4-Start the game again, notice that all the mods playsets are all messed up
5-if restart the launcher again, you get the same error (back to step 1)

The "Recieve beta versions of launcher" thing, i turned it on and it started to work

Re-tried and worked, seems like it was an known issue if getting the beta version fixes it

My mods are missing their descriptor files after trying the "Beta versions of launcher" thing - is this intended behaviour?

I started using the Beta versions of launcher but it crashes alot more for random reasons, so this fix is somewhat faulty

Yeah is more of a workaround than a fix, if geting a 'beta' version solves it then it confirms there is an actual bug with the current launcher that is available to the general public

yeah I've had the same problem just enabling the beta version fixxed it it still says some of the mods I have are missing the descriptor file these seem to be the big ones like rt56, total war, great war, idk why I hope paradox fixxes this I've never had a problem like this before. Another thing to note is for me at least it said the exact same file location except something about my onedrive was included so like "Remove / rename the file 'C\Users\XXXXX\OneDrive\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Heart of Iron IV\launcher-v2.sqlite' and try again" if my mods were saved on onedrive and if there was an overlap problem anyone with knowledge about this please reply

I have onde drive too, I had to unsub to the mods in steam when re installing, and only after enabling the beta I subscribed again, then they downloaded as usual

yeah I shot myself in the foot by deleteing one drive thinking the file was overlapping so I deleted the file then the whole thing and I lost all my pictures and everything got messed up but im fairly back to where I was idk where all my pics went but I'm glad to be able to play again even wo mods

I tried doing the betas and the same message kept popping up. I tried to accept the beta shit and that just brought up the same message with a different wording telling me to delete/rename a file I don’t have. Somebody please make a video on how to fix this issue I just want to play the damn game is that so much to ask?

Guys I know how to fix this! Check your antivirus quarantine section, I found that occasionally the bootstrapper-v2.exe file gets falsely flagged as a virus. If it's in your quarantined list please restore the file and try again, or add an exception and search: C:/Users/YourUsers/AppData/Local/Programs and then select Paradox Interactive Folder as exception and than if your Antivirus was the problem you'll fix the problem! Have a good day guys!

Yeah same from me, unsubbing to mods and getting the beta launcher only worked for about 5 days, it started happening again
