Database migration failed. Most likely, your database file has been affected by newer version of the launcher. Remove / rename the file 'C\Users\XXXXX\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Heart of Iron IV\launcher-v2.sqlite' and try again

Issue started happening today and have not found a way to get rid of it, not being able to play the game.

No recent change that I can think off, I have already tried reinstalled a fresh game and have the same error

Note that if you follow the steps suggested by the error, the mods end up all messed up, even after reinstall so I will be working to unsusbscribe and subscribe again to all mods with a fresh install. the mods are only present as 'subscribed' in the steam workshop, and in a playset in the launcher, not enabled in the game so not sure why they got messed up

Steps to Reproduce
1-Start the game
2-Get the error
3-Delete the file as instructed
4-Start the game again, notice that all the mods playsets are all messed up
5-if restart the launcher again, you get the same error (back to step 1)

A guy suggested this:

- unsubscribe from all mods in BOTH the Steam Workshop and the Paradox mod site mods.paradoxplaza.com
- delete the folder Documents/Paradox Interactive/HOI4/mod/
- delete the file Documents/Paradox Interactive/HOI4/mods_registry.json (if present)
- delete the file Documents/Paradox Interactive/HOI4/launcher-v2.sqlite (if present)
- run the game up and check the launcher is okay with no mod or other errors
- subscribe to a few mods
- run the game up and see if those mods are now available to you.

I will be testing this now

UPDATE: Didn't work, even without any mods and a fresh install I still have the error

Procedure for execution:
1.First you need to start your launcher.
2.Enter the launcher settings.
3.And download the trial version once it's downloaded, reset the launcher and it should work for you.

The problem is that mods do not work due to this error, creating a new playset without mods does not solve the problem.

I contacted paradox support and even they don't know how to fix this yet, they told me to give them a copy of my Launcher-v2.sqlite file and tell me what antivirus i was using, I told them that I have put the game as an exception on my PC and have followed the error's direction.
A bug so new the people who develop the game don't even know how to fix

Still didn't work.

If you did the "Receive Beta versions of the launcher" update.
You just need to create a new playset without mods. But then, unfortunately, you will be playing without mods.
This is a temporary solution.

How is this a solution. It solves exactly zero of the problems caused by this bug, which is that you can still play the game, but not play with mods.

I removed, all mods and unsubbed for all mods, and reinstalled. still got the error. In any case that sounds like a workaround not a fix. if using steam you can also launch direct directly (skipping the launcher) but then again you are playing without any mods or any of the other ustilities in the launcher
