Description
So, this all started back when I was playing modded hoi4. Everything was fine until I decided I wanted to disable a mod called USA States: Redux. So I start the game right, and It crashes on Initializing game. And I think "Hmm, maybe the mod needs to be enabled." So I re-enable it and guess what, the game boots up fine. So I'm trying all these things to get HOI4 to boot up without the mod enabled (as the mod is really game-changing), but no matter what I do, including unsubscribing and uninstalling the mod, making a new playset without any mods, and reinstalling the mod. Nothing works. So then I try making Steam an admin, uninstalling hoi4 and reinstalling it, deleting the HOI4 directory, restarting my computer, updating my graphics card drivers, etc (and yes, I do meet the minimum requirements for running HOI4). Any as you can guess, It still requires the mod to run. This is a wonder to me as its a legit mod with many subscribers, but I haven't been able to find an issue similar to mine. Please help!

Steps to Reproduce
1. Use the version 1.11. 5 of HOI4.
2. Install the USA States: Redux mod. (https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2103242941)
3. Launch HOI4 and load a new save.
4. Exit out of the game and disable the mod.
5. Relaunch HOI4 WITHOUT the mod enabled.
6. Watch It crash on Initializing Game.

This is exactly what I did, but if it doesn't crash the game for you, It could be some other issue.

Just an advise/try… you deleted the hoi4 directory right? And on a windows machine? Did you looked at your windows profile? Hoi4 created a directory over their as well to place the save games in. What if you delete this dir+ hoi4 dir and do a reinstallation? Still the same issue?

What is this directory called? And whats the filepath?

Are the save in. Delete all of hoi4 so
Documents\Paradox Interactive (for Mac) ~/Documents/Paradox Interactive

(I only got hoi4 so i can delete “paradox interactive” dir. but if you got more games… delete only the “heart of iron vi” dir.

I had an issue with the game… only deleting the installation dir wasn’t enough. After deleting the dir in the windows profile part my issue was gone (and do a reinstallation of course of hoi4). Not sure if it works for you but its worth trying.
