No

Description
Initially a warning is provided that airborne ops can not be assigned without a minimum of 50 transports. When I tried to do a simple test of dropping a small paratrooper division (3k men no support companies) with 70 transports the mission will successfully setup. The operation arrow is assigned a name and all of the available transports. Once the game is resumed the available transports is reduced to 0 and the operation animation is halted and the drop will not proceed. Cancelling the operation does not release the transports. Further attempts to cancel ops and reassign a new drop is prohibited as now the game sees no transports available for establishing the air drop.

UPDATE: I let the game continue and tried splitting the transports. Operation would show the newly created air transports and when game proceeded again the available transports went to zero.

Steps to Reproduce
1. Move a paratrooper to a friendly controlled air base with sufficient transports. I used small division with 70 transports.
2. Verify/Setup air superiority over the area of the proposed air drop. I used USA Oklahoma with drop to occur in Kansas.
3. Assign airborne division para drop orders.
4. Operation order will appear to be good and once game progress is resumes the assigned transports will be reduced to 0.
5. Saving and reloading did not resolve issue.

Bumping this

Current Version now Tested: Avalanche v1.12.10.91f2 (0f26)

This still does not seem to work. I've waited about 3 months with no response as to either what I'm doing wrong or acknowledgement of the issue. Not being able to deploy airborne forces would seem to me as a major bug in the software. The previous files are still valid and load within the current version of the game.

Herennius, thanks for the reply. The original requirement was for 50 transports per division to be dropped and the popup still indicates that. What I see is the drop order plan starts to animate and then stops. My guess is that airborne ops is broken or possibly it can't be done on friendly soil, although I don't know why that limitation would apply. I did make sure that I had air superiority in the drop region. I guess another unfortunate point is that after 3 months Paradox has chosen to not provide any kind of a reply as to what I'm doing incorrectly or that it is broken and will be fixed in a future release.

Please close as I have discovered a document that explains that airborne ops can't be conducted unless the country is at war.
I think there is still a reportable issue here. What you've described above matches the situation I explained in this guide, which is that trying to paradrop into friendly territory without being in a state of war will fail and the planes will get tied up.

I think the bug is that the planes get tied up and stay tied up even after deleting the order. You have to delete and recreate the air wing in order to free the planes up.
