Guanxi Clique and Yunnan Not Allowed To Go Down Communist Path

Description
I was playing as the Guanxi Clique and decided to try the ole communist route. There was an issue, the conditions for me to continue down the communist path require you to border a communist state, Guanxi Clique does not border a communist state so they essentially became locked out of the focus tree since I can't proceed. I thought this was a fluke so I reloaded the game and the same issue. I tried to play as Yunnan and also Yunnan is locked out, Currently, only Xibei San Ma and Shanxi can progress down the tree

Steps to Reproduce
Play Yunnan or Guanxi Clique and go down the communist path, get locked out.

It seems you need to specifically border communist China. However can you not pick a border clash with the nationalists if you go communist? That should allow you to get a border

Yeah, so you can do border wars against the Nationalist but you can't pick what border the conflict will be on, so as it pops up you can go west, or north. Now, by the time you have done enough border conflicts Communist China is usually knocked out, at least in the few games I played, so you are locked completely out of the focus. so only Xibei San Ma and Shanxi can go communist. I guess you could go with opposition and then flip communist but then you don't get the communist china focus tree.

Ok, but then it should be possible to do. Yes, the border conflicts randomly pick a state, but you can somewhat steer which one that is going to be. You can quickly get to bordering Xibei San Ma which allows you to do extra border conflicts. It may take a while, but should definitely be possible.

It isnt though. Cause the longer the war goes the more Japan takes over and you can't border conflict Japan. Additionally, Border Conflicts aren't immediately available after you win one, there is a cooldown period. I really really tried to make this work but I couldn't get to Sinkiang or Communist China, the closest path to Communist china is exactly 9 tiles away from Guangxi Clique and 11 from Yunnan.

You can try if it you'd like but you just don't have enough time before Japan claps China. What's crazier is that I even tried to see if you can return some territory back to communist china so that you can quickly border them but the option is to basically capitulate yourself
