I sank the British Pride of the fleet and did not get the achievement.

Can verify this. I've sunk the British Pride both with Port Bombing as well as in Combat (Iike OP) and neither fired the achievement.

Confirmed, sunk it many times over and no effect.

 

[Hopit]

Sunk it 5 times in 5 different ways with no effect. (Naval Strike, Port Strike, Capital Ships, Escorts and Subs)
