HOI 3 base game and HQ COC lines

I bought the original HOI 3 games yrs ago now, and am finally going to attempt to learn how to play this sucker. I was watching some amazing tutorial vids on youtube, and the creator had these beautiful Chain of Command colored lines running from HQ's to subordinate units. I however do not see any of these colored lines in my game which again is the original base game. It is updated to the latest patch which is 1.4 I believe. I do see that the tutorial creator was playing one of the DLC games, For the Motherland and/or Their Finest Hour. Are these colored lines connecting COC's not available in the original HOI 3 game? thanks!

First, I highly recommend you get all the expansions up to Their Finest Hour. The vast improvements to the game and the AI are huge.

i think there is a option that you can choose to enable or disable those lines, cant remember if it exists in the vanila though

Thank you for your replies. I did not see an option to turn these COC lines on or not, so I do not think they are available in the original game. Someone please speak up if this is not the case. I will take a look at the additional modules Lothos. I think they are super cheap so I might go ahead and get them as you suggest. Thanks again!

I am pretty sure the chain of command lines were added with Semper Fi. You really must get all expansions up to and including TFH.
