What Im interested in knowing what SINGLE feature you would most like to see in HOI2?

What are yours?

Make the game more attactive to new players by including more start up scenarios. True there is an editor - but who can be bothered? (only REAL hard core fans)
This gives people the option to try to do better themselves - an attraction to the game.
This gives Paradox more money and gives a wider pool of players.

Mods can be dropped in later by / for those who want them.

Or, AI using PARATROOPS :D And invasion AI.

I would like to see CK´s character model in HOI2. All characters may have number of traits in CK and they may gain or lose traits by events. HOI2 needs a lot of characters like politicians and generals and these characters need traits. For example Stalin should have suspicious and cruel traits and because of those traits in war goes badly Stalin should execute Soviet generals like he historically did in 1941. Success or defeat should also give some traits in the long run to the winning or losing general.

Another idea is to take economic model from Victoria and improve it. HOI2 really needs bilateral trade agreement. AI nations should look what resources they need and they should attempt to make trade agreements with nations who product that resource and in exchange they should give for example another resource, money and maybe tech.

Landing craft.
'Andrew Higgins..'..Eisenhower said..'..is the man who won the war for us.' My face must have shown the astonishment I felt at hearing such a strong statement from such a source. Eisenhower went on to explain, 'If Higgins had not designed and built those LCVPs, we never could have landed over an open beach. The whole strategy of the war would have been different.'

What I would also like to see is more options to create alliances. And not only the regular three.

But for instance the possibility to create a scandinavian alliance without the UK/SU or Germany.

I would like:

SUPPLY!!!! The Infrastructure of provinces between supply base and the
current location should affect the level of supply. The resulting supply should be devided up between the units, so if a province could supply one division with full supply per day then 100 divisions in that location would only recieve 1/100 of their supply per day (I hated in TOAW where all divisions recieved 3 percent per day regardless if you'd 1 or 1000 divisions). A nice colour coded Supply Map could show this. Linking up with the Japanese should be impossible. Weather should also affect supply of these provinces more if they've low infrastructure (Mud as in Russia).

Strategic Bombing and U-boats. This is where a much simplier implementation would have been better. One side should just allocates bombers (or Uboats) and the other should just allocate fighters (or escorts, from destroyers to carriers) and then it should just happen in the background, with the result of lost ICs... I should not have to be trying to chase bombers over German with my fighters like some sort of extremely lame arcade game.
Something the same for Fighters over areas of the battlefield. Allocating Air-Superiority fighters like in TOAW (one good thing about TOAW). And just worrying about the bombers...(seperate Air and Land maps would be nice...not to easy to see ones fighters hidden away under land units at the mo).

And what I would like would be sliders like in EU2. You can only move them slightly, every few months. Not suddenly switching from research to production in the blink of an eye (Albert Speer was good, but not that good).
It would be nice if you could produce tanks and planes and soldiers and make units up from them (or use these produced tanks and planes and soldiers as REINFORCEMENTS or to create divisions) instead of producing divisions. And as for the reinforcing a unit from strenght of 1 to 100 in 1 second...(some sort of REFIT button should be present for a unit, and when it's on, the unit slowly regains strenght and loses Organisation). Experience would be nice for units too.

Partisans...

And a tiny thing, for a new unit, could the Machine select a Mj with a skill of 2 or 3. Not one with a skill of 0...

And it would be nice if the map provinces changed colour like in EU2 when the weather changes...

And it would be nice if the AI was sentient and self-aware, not only capable of passing the Turing Test but of devising A Grand Unified Theory in less than 10 minutes, and of course, the AI shouldn't want to enslave humanity.

my two bits

The one thing I would most like to see is having physical limitation be placed on geography and infrastructure. Like in EU, provinces can only hold so much before taking a hit of some kind. If I put 20 divisions in gibralter then any bombing of that area should produce INCREDIBLE casualties since the men must be standing shoulder to shoulder over the entire face of The Rock. Also what happens to your supply grid when you put 50 divisions in a single area?

Thanks SO MUCH for hoi2. Can't wait.

Donagel
ps: It would also be nice to give better orders to naval forces like "avoid contact","avoid contact, bomb with airplanes", "only attack convoys", etc

1: Why not have battle plans, ie getting extra victory points for achieving specific goals like: reach moscow before the winter. 2: More feedback, like presenting propaganda movies when things goes well or goes ...worse. 3: A strategic replay of a finished game with arrowheads symbolizing army groups (a little like civ3). 4: more diplomacy

-No hexes, please, they wont work on divisional scale. Moving to corps scale is SHEER INSANITY. Dare to be diffrent from other WWII games.
-Long betatest.

Favored features for HOI 2

1. A switch to allow the game to be played in historic mode (Something more like core) or in "what-if" mode where spheres of influence or diminished and different alliances can be formed, etc... Be really nice if you had a window pop up in "what if" mode allowing you to turn on & off historic elements and things that "could have happened" (Spain joins AXIS, US stays out of war, Soviets ally with Poland, etc...)

2. Enhanced diplomacy model - specifically include the ability to coordinate attacks with the AI.

3. Adjust provinces to be more consistient based on size rather than any other attribute. Provide feedback when a unit ordered to cross a province does not have sufficient org to accomplish the feat. In short reduce suprises and guess work...

A few things I hope to see in HOI 2

1) All the stuff from Modding Hopes, Dreams and Curses thread. Actually this is quite a lot :p

2) Ability to fire pics and sounds with events. Some of this is in CK I think. Correct me if im wrong.

A radical departure I might support would be the introduction of a hex grid.

Wow! Someone else who likes hex grids! :D I like them because they allow for much more precise control of and movement through territory, and allow for more complex planning and execution of attacks ala TOAW.

Sadly, it seems that the 5 (just an arbitrary number, not the result of an actual poll ;) ) of us in the Paradoxian boards who like hex grids are viewed as heretics and are frequently burned or rather "flamed" at the stake for even so much as mentioning them.

Honestly, I don't know why people are so averse to hex grids, perhaps they are seen as boring or intimidating?
