Is HoI 1 a game where you actually can change the history... NO because makers of the game forgot about things like annexing a country without a war (the same as German did to Austria and Chech, if you don't know what I mean). Thoes are Historical Events, but I think they should be a normal option in politics. I don't mean that it would be easy as declaring a war, but it would take years till a country will eventualy become a part of our country. I also don't mean that countries like Panama could annex USA. Don't you think that there should be more options in political screen than we see on beta pictures of HoI 2 ?

Is there any other incidence that is similar to the annexation of Austria or Czechia? If not, why should it be a "normal" option?

By that reasoning, there were only two nuclear bombs dropped, so they should be left out, right?

I think annexation through peaceful means should be a part of the game, albeit a difficult one.

I'd like the idea to peacfully model this out, but the annexation of Austria and Czechoslovakia were longer processes that took many months of intense gambles and threats of war.

How would you intend to model this political wrangling? All we have now the the 'Demand Territory'. A few times I actually got Austria to accept real early on. I don't know much of how to do it, but increase the chance of the 'Demand Territory', or have it check both countries' military scores and alliances. Also, add like a 25-50% chance of war breaking out, since all of germany's land claims would have been wars if not for the opposers giving in.

Actually... yes :D Many people found them unbalancing, and their effects inapropriate (sp.?) and unhistorical. Certainly lack of them (or existence only as events for USA and Japan) wouldn't be a game breaker.

Germany did march with troops in to Austria, and I would call that attacking them. But the Austrians then gave in to Germany. After sudenland(or what ever it is called) Germany attacked Chechoslovakia. That wasnt 100% peaceful.

Yes please - git rid of nukes ;)

Good comment. I've never come across the AI surrendering - maybe it should be able to - just a thought :)

NO! Nukes must be available. I would be very, very angry if they were removed from any game that is trying to recreate the second world war, because both alliances were trying as hard as they could to produce the bomb... If Germany was to produce the bomb before the United States, think of how it could be used? Also - I personally think that if a bomb is used by any nation, that the AI should be more likely to accept a 'sue for peace', or even an unconditional surrender...

Might just be a price worth paying :D

However, gameplay wise, they are unbalancing and they could be modelled in other ways ;)

How are they unbalancing? They way they are in HoI is sortof unbalancing, considering that they destriy every unit in a province, but I'm sure it will be different.

The amount of investment necessary to develop them will be tremendous, so the payoff better be good.

Well, I find that destruction of every unit in a province unbalancing.

Just my view of course

Austria happened because of the ethnic germans(votes but likely a fraud) and the allies apeasement plan. Czecs event happened cause after sudentenland, hitler 'invited' the Czecs high command for 'coffee' and forced them to give in.

There r options whereby the AI can refuse though.

Agree for more options but seldom will the AI negotiate peace though so don't think of much use...

I think that every historical event could be able for the player, by options in the game. I'm for very few of historical events, or even none of them... If HoI2 wants to be a game where you can change history they shouldn't make any of historical events. Don't you think so?

"if germany could have better relations with ussr"

first off Russia shouldn't be that powerful to take on germany single handed but any ways if a Japanese and german coordination happened then Russia would fall very fast
