This question might have been asked before, but will HOI 2 be released for mac at all? I am an avid Hearts of Iron player of the mac version, and I would loooove to see HOI 2 come out on mac at the same time or soon after the original release of HOI 2 for windows. I know i'm wishing too much for this, but I just want to know.

well ... what about linux ? :p

Hear hear!

Paradox games are the only reason I ever boot into Windows. Conversely, Windows is the only reason why I don't own all Paradox games. I'd be more than happy to redirect the money I spend on Microsoft licenses to buying Paradox games on Linux. If it can be done on Mac OS X it should be possible on Linux... please? :)

I used to run Virtual PC to play EU1 on my Mac--SLOOOOOOOOOOOOOW. I bought a AMD 2000 box because of the price (high end at the time less than a lowend G4). I use a Mac at work but this is the last one.

Don't rant, for Paradox it will be economic decision........

Paradox doesn't convert their games themselves to Mac, but there is a company that used to do this. I'd suppose they'll get interested if the sales are high enough.

Well from what I cna gfather msot Game companys dont do Mac version and Linux etc because in the end the recoding or work that needs to be done and the costs well outweigh the costs of people buying the game really, thier arnt many people that buy Mac and Linux game hance the game companys not really making any thing from the sales, so its all about cost in the end and how it works out, and its not cost effective to just bring out a Mac or Linux version of the game because lets face it Linux and Mac are a rarity and so are the people that buy and play games on it.

So extreamly unlikely.

Not trying to put down Mac or Linux users, but the majority poeple around the world use Window's and not the other form because its a much more popular OS, and it will stay like that lol.

Get a real computer! :p

That said, the more OS's, the more people can be reached. And, if HoI was itself ported to the Mac, maybe HoI2 will be as well.

But like said before, that is hardly a problem for Paradox, rather the publishers/"re-coders"... (Loki propably being the most known example, although not with us anymore (ie. dead)...)

Sure there are less MacOS/Linux users out there. On the other hand, this is a very good case of "offer creating demand". The more games there are, the more demand for games there will be. Also, because there are relatively few games on these platforms (but to say that there are none is not true anymore, times are changing, see www.tuxgames.com for example), linux users tend to stampede towards *any* linux game out there. And there are an estimated 18 million linux users - don't know about the number of mac users but they're probably at least the double of that. A large market share of a small market can be better than a small share of a large market...

Hey one can hope, right?

Although this is getting rather OT, I must add that the one great chance that Unix world has with gaming industry is OpenGL. Windows just can "monopolize" this system because of their lack of expertise.

Take the whole Quake series for example, all native-Linux but putten also for Windows. Enemy Territory, the latest example... But those are all FPS, because that is where the OpenGL system can be taken to the limit, thus beating all other systems.

But as long as Paradox uses Direct X, it is most propable that it going to happen, a linux version that is...
