Why don't the allies just ally with Turkey? If Italy was foolish enough to invade a nation supported by Turkey, then maybe some UK infantry in Rome could persuade Mussolini to change his mind? ;)

Looking at this weekend and next, I'd better not commit to any sessions (Uni assingments due shortly) but if I end up having some free time I'll be around in V-net at 7pm Sunday.

Cheers

Finally I'm up and running again with internet access.

My availability is still very limited, however if anyone is keen on some smaller weekend games, let me know. I'm basically available only Tuesday day, and weekends from now on, but I'd like to get back into a game.

Hope the current game pans out well.

Good to see you again joel hope you canplay again soon

Can do 7pm.

The USA watches no longer, as military spending increases in response to growing axis aggression.

France, Spain, Belgium, Holland, Luxembourg, Denmark, Yugoslavia, Albania, Europe is falling under a dark shadow indeed. Japan has become increasingly aggressive, seizing new territories for itself as well, while England valiantly struggles to hold back the tide of evil.

The US army doubles in size, in less than 3 months, the airforce and navy soon to follow.

Amid much fanfare the USA launches what it proudly boasts is "The most advanced aircraft carrier on the waves" - The USS Enterprise, to cement it's dominance of the Pacific.

FDR grimly announces that more will perhaps soon be needed.

Hi Jh.

Yes its 7pm today EST time so in about 2 hours. We are still using 1.1
You will probably have to go a minor nation as all majors are taken plus Romania as well. I would suggest a allied nation such as Canada or Australia. It is late 39 with Germany has over run Europe, Italy has annexed yougoslavia but has not joined the axis, Japan has annexed china. Look forward to seeing you go to the HOI 2 channel on vnet.

Good to have you onboard again JH. Alot of what you need to know can be found right here on the forums in FAQ area, just spend some time reading and also the manual does explain things pretty well, although alot to read.

Also if you are free during the weeknights we also play then normaly for about 3 hours so nothing to long as well all work.

To our game, a good session. Made progress up to april 1940. This session saw Romania join the Axis alliance and then quickly turn against hungry for border violations. Romania annex Hungry a few months later. There was ongoing debate about how to deal with Turkey as it was still at war with Italy. The USSR has threatened war if Turkey is annexed and Axis troops stationed there. As a compromise so italy can complete the war, we have agreed that no offensive actions will take place into or out of Turkey by any party, basicaly making Turkey neutral. This was to allay fears of a southern front opening up against the USSR and also an axis push into the Middle east from Turkey, it would also protect against any possible Allied/Commie drive through Turkey and into south east europe.

Germany was content with her conquests and continued to sink Uk convoys at an alarming rate with airpower of the coast of spain and out into the mid atlantic. I expect UK efforts to thawrt this will soon happen if they can. Italy still remains outside of the alliance but grows impatient with its current position in the world.

Next session sunday 5pm hopefully make it to the opening of Barbarossa.

5 player game update
Its February 1942 and Germany has withdrawn to its prewar borders following its many defeats on the Eastern front. Continuous offensives buy Soviet forces have failed to break German defensive positions on the former Polish and Romanian borders. Many Germany infantry divisions have been destroyed. The Soviet airforce rules the skies and is totally in control. The Soviet factories are producing at full speed and will shortly have the offensive forces to breakthru and hold. Preparations are underway to be in Berlin early 1943.The Axis only hope remains in secret weapons. Meanwhile in the Med Italian forces have pushed the British back towards Eithopia after the British regained Alexandria for a brief period.

Not from my experience...saying that however I think the Soviets should wait till they are at war before making trade deals with USA for supplies as this gives them an extra 60 IC to spend on builds. Mike got caught with his pants down when the French DOW on him about April 1939 and Poland and France made big inroads into German territory. Germany had annexed Hungary and brought Spain in to the war so I guess the French wasnt happy. I think all his Divisions were in clumps . Anyway took him 9 Months to clear out the Poles and French after the Allies took military control. This resulted in large losses of MP and IC for the germans. He was underdone for Russia with most of his infantry half strength. He was only a few hours away from destroying 30 Russian divisions but he was nowhere near strong enough to beat the Russians on the ground. Also I dont think he done any IC upgrades. So an answer to your question is I dont know if Russia is too strong as I would like a game when the Axis havnt had any unexpected surprises and can prepare properly. Also not sure if the Axis can afford to build so many naval bombers, carriers, escort fighters, cruisers, destroyers and transports as they cannot be used on the Russian front.

Go Carlton, they will win, port playing like a bunch of drunks this season, so far. Hehehe.

In our 5 player game Germany is on the defensive after Barossoa failed against larger Soviet forces massed in the border areas. Germany withdrawled to pre-war borders with the USSR and built a wall of steel. The mass Soviets armies smashed themselves against German positions time and time again and Germany repulsed every attack bar one, which was countered and the front stabilised again. Germany has suffered alot of casaulties but the soviets even more, but it will only be a matter of time before the front breaks. Hopefully Germanies secret weapons might save the day but i doubt, interesting though playing defensively.

Oh the pain...the pain.

:(

It is my sad duty to inform the group I may have to give up on our midweek games. Im copping flak from the wife about the hours im spending on Hearts of Iron. (Arse of Iron as she calls it ).

Our weekend games are ok and maybe I can sneak in 1 night midweek.

Should be OK for wednesday night this week but it may be my last midweek session for a while.

It is better to have played and lost than to have never played at all.
