  • For The Glory
Not asking how to survive though - for the first time ever, and in a attempt I wasn't even taking seriously, I managed to strike a fantastic victory over the Turks on the first war. That lead me to continue, thankfully I had the Fantasy events on (AGCEEP 141) and things are going fine now, wich about half Anatolia recovered and a nice bulk of the Balkans.

The Ottos where anexed, then reborn because of rebels in someone else's provinces and then they got Rhodes for free. Wich was only good because it meant I invaded both provs instantly, got rhodes without a battle and got LOADS of free cash.

Question is... the fantasy events file is rather confusing and I can't understand much of it - I belive it says that when I control all of Anatolia I'll get a bunch of events about the Turks in it - wich way should I take when that happens? I really don't wanna go on a conquest spree to anex wrong-religion and culture provinces just because they are cores...

Will BYZ ever get another culture besides greek also? Slavonic specificly would be very usefull. I know I can mod it in, but if it's already predicted I'll take the fantasy timeline...

This puts Burgundy on hold also - my first ever no-cheating successfull Byz :)

The Anatolian events involve the changing of the provinces from Turk to Greek. You get some revolts and some other little hits, but it's well worth it.

Also you get a chance to get Turkish as a state culture IIRC.

Indeed.

You will be presented with three options for each province, expulsion, colonisation, and acceptance.

Expelling the turks will instantly change the culture to greek and the religion to orthodox. Colonisation will change the culture and religion several decades later, at reduced cost. Acceptance will gain you Turkish culture, but only if you select it for every single province.

You can also gain Turkish culture by sending the prince of Morea to administer turkish lands. But it will be no use unless you accept the turks, which would get you the culture anyway.

One last warning regarding the fantasy events: Don't go full innovative, or full plutocratic. Stay at least one point under. A high INNO is the only way to get latin tech, but max INNO will prevent the major event in that chain from occurring.

Latin Tech? Whoohoo! :)

Will do. I'm rather aristocratic anyhow, and with my brutal stab costs I may just go narrowminded indeed.

I did not know this. I always kicked the Turks out. It seemed the vindictive and correct thing to do :eek:o

You need to be full innovative between 1642-1700 and you need to have chosen option c in "Dealing with the nobility".
To get that event you gotta pick option b in "The sibling conflict".

You can gain Slavonic culture by triggering the Byzantine Renaissance event. I think you had to own Thrace, Hellas, Morea, Macedonia, and Smyrna, all by 1453.

I did, but No slavonic... :( Guess I'll mod it in - how was it that you know what event tags are free?

I'm pretty sure you also need to have had the great nobility revolt of Zoe's reign, which IIRC will not trigger if you are full innovative.

Unless, of course, the sequence has been updated since I last played Byzantium, which was admittedly ages ago.

After conquering all Anatolia, a bunch of the Balkans and getting Slavonic and Turkish culture, even though beeing for the last 150 years on constant stabhits due to events (never got above -2) finaly 2 alliances force me to quit the "no reload" policy - Austria+Venice+Uber Naples+uber tuscany AND Russia + Denmark

Funny thing is my christian tolerance is maxed, but relations are still always in -200 :(
