Won't the auto-surrender every war be annoying?
I'm probably going to choose Papal States first, possibly Netherlands. It all depends on the first few years. Without a doubt I'll restart the scenario a few times before settling.
At least I already did the tutorials, very glad they're in the demo.
I think I'll start with a minor to get the hang of it. Tuscany or something, a manageable country with few provinces. Then I'll move on to Spain or Prussia. Later on, I'll experiment with different setups, like a theocratic Persia and revolting Russia. IO played the demo a lot last night (I'm so sleepy...), and will pre-order the game as soon as I get back home from work. I know it releases soon, but I'd love the soundtrack collection.

out of curiosity, why DK? rarely hear of non-danish players (provided you are non-danish ofcourse), playing Denmark

but the sad thing is, that usually strong nationalism & militarism takes overhand and leads to... well.. world wars (roughly speaking).

After the demo, I have a very strong urge to play Texas and form a Mid-North American Empire that stretches from Mexico City to Alaska.
Also a Pacific Rim orientated California that has its borders in the Rockies and incorporates Western Canada, Alaska and Siberia might be very fun.
Eventually I will play Prussia and Two Sicilies as well.

I'll try Wallachia and see if I can form Romania and make the empire in my EU3 AAR. Nah, it's probably impossible without getting pounded upon by Russia and the UK.
This has been said before, but I would love to play another United States game. Actually get to finish the Civil War this time, and get those Mexicans and-slash-or Englishmen out of my turf.
After that, I'm not sure, possibly Japan, Brazil or Prussia. A few games in, I'll think about going ahistorical: playing as Australia, Canada or Czechoslovakia. Seems like it would be interesting.

Damn, you're right : this isn't EU3 anymore.
But, heh, see it that way : if I can manage to win some wars with them ... I'll probably be able to kick anyone's ass single-handedly afterwards.
First a small one, like Switzerland or Denmark. Then a small colonial power, most likely the Netherlands. And after that the reason why I bought the game: Prussia!

Denmark. I'll go with the National Liberalists, until I can create a facist government. Then I'll take Slesvig and Holstein, and then kick Norway and Swedens ass.
Thinking i'll begin with Argentina, as they were one of my favourite nations to play in the original.
Enough potential to become strong and engage in some alternate history, but isolated enough at the beginning to do your own thing without being dragged into other conflicts etc.

Denmark has so many possibilities and so much potential...and always the fear of getting crushed by the big boys surrounding you!
