Hmmm.... Time to speculate?

I noticed that one of the forum moderators was in this forum recently to sticky the 'Patches' thread. This really hadn't been changed from 2012, and a good number of players purchase HoI3 from a third party supplier (Steam, GOG, etc.). Are there really versions of the game out there where people still need the information about patches?

What prompted a mod to come into this mostly abandoned section of the forum only to pin an ancient (and possibly totally unnecessary) thread?

Exactly my thoughts.
Now thats funny for a starter.
Maybe some guy was undusting his old CD/DVD collection and ran over HOI3 in vanilla state.

Most likely, some customer had a question, and the moderator suggested reading the sticky topic on the subject, except that there wasn't one. Slight oversight, now corrected. There's probably nothing more significant to read into it.

Buying the game through Steam, it's rather difficult to revert the game to a 1.0 state in order to need a patch. Steam handles that well enough that referencing an external patch shouldn't be necessary.

At least it's evidence that Paradox hasn't forgotten this community and HoI3. (Okay, it may be flimsy and highly suspect circumstantial evidence, but someone up there remembers we are here. Maybe they'll surprise us with a new version to fix some niggling issues.)

My guess. Someone's been a bad mod, and was given some kind of remedial duty for penance.
