Hey guys, I love the Utopia.
In particular I really am enjoying the Hivemind mechanics.
I've read a bit in the dev diary about the mechanics and reasoning behind the current implementation of the Hivemind and can only applaud what a refreshing fun and new angle to the game this brings!

I wanted to suggest some future improvements for the ascension path for the Hivemind that borrows from a variety of influences but brings in something unique to Stellaris.
(I've tried to make these follow a logical order, but apologies if its a bit note like.)
- Hivemind play style seems very much to suggest that biological progression is the preferred endgame technological drive. If this is the case I'd suggest exploring the option of advanced psyonics (much like Telepathy and unlocked at a similar time) with the emphasis on ascending through galaxia (becoming a single galactic organism).
- Some of the changes to play style may well include psionic force projection across the galaxy but at the cost of population to fuel the nucleonic Overmind which is forming out of the sea of consciousness. An example scenario: It costs 10 pop or 20% of total population to project the psionic will of the Hivemind to expand empire influence by 10% (The numbers can change but you get the idea).
- The idea of mental control mastery can be expanded to sacrifice a vast swathe of population to attempt to control a component of a civilisation far away (Imagine wanting to really dig at an empire across the galaxy and the monumental sacrifice this would incur to fuel the fledgling Overmind).
- As a counter and interesting end game interplay, one of the primary requirements for any sort of influence projection would be a path of biologically inhabited worlds to 'piggie-back' off in the direction of the enemy. - This would be countered by using quantum busters to nova stars in a defensive line (Really emphasising the high stakes at end game; once you've noved a star you'll be suffering 10ly fall out of reduced productivity and population decline)
Anyways, this is very much fanciful dreaming of where stellaris could be in a few patches from now, but I have nothing but admiration so keep up the good work.
(Also #1st post so apologies if I broke forum rules I am going to double check now!)
