This is utterly absurd. As a hive mind I didn't have any clerk, merchant or anything. There is absolutely no way I can get anything from trading. However, appearantly the game thinks otherwise.

There is even active piracy. In fact it's piracy that notify me that I can trade lol.

And, no, it's not someone else's trade route passing by. Others' trade route will have 0.00 on the "Trade Route Value" row.

EDIT: Forget to mention that I have numberous tributary subjects. Does that has any effects?

I'm not sure about the income, however piracy can happen in your borders if you have open borders with someone and their trade routes go through your territory.
It's really 'fun' to have deal with pirates without getting any of the benefits of trade - especially since you can't suppress them, cause they're not yours.

No you can suppress it. Either putting corvettes there (easy, simple, can't suppress late game piracy without using a glazing 50 or so corvettes), or build a starbase (suitable for chokepoints, like gateway systems) will solve the issue.

Actually, it would be quite interesting if we can tax on these trade routes or conduct some piracy ourselves on these trade routes...

They probably fixed it, come to think of it I haven't even tried suppressing since 2.2.0.

Regarding a lot of corvettes to protect trade in the late game, what I've started doing is designing ships which basically have nothing on them for the sole purpose of protecting trade - I give them the best engines for faster patrol speed and enough power to sustain and that's all. Granted, they still count toward your naval cap, however they're much cheaper to build and more importantly cheaper to maintain.

This happened to me after a war and leaving one of their planets seperated from the others. It appears, they still have a trade route to their capital during the armistice and it produces this piracy events. Indeed, in fact the trade route can pass through any system, provided there is no hostile and the border is not shut. This leads to startegic choke point extremely vunlunarble to such kind of issue. I have piracy issue at terminal egress (Entrance to L-cluster, if you forget or use another language), which has to be solved by building a starbase. The trade route here values in thousands. I bet half a galaxy is depending on it for trade route. Using corvette will take up too much naval capacity. Plus, I want a fortress there anyway.
