Chapter II: Technology, Production and Politics
If I’m to get the Third Reich out of this, I need to get rid of these monstrosities performed by almighty AI.
Production:
I’m not entirely sure when (but the
where is the bigger question here) I should use these escorts and convoys AI has in production. I don’t know if I should use them to ship supplies in Berlin down the Spree, or if I should organize boat competitions; I just don’t know. The same goes for the rest of the ships in the queue.
On the other hand, that Dornier Do 215 looks reasonably; though I’d rather see a bunch of Panzers constructed instead of it. There were three more divisions in the queue (Fallschirmjäger, Marinesturm and Infanterie) but no progress was made on them ever since, so I left there just that barely-started project of 6. Infanterie-Division.
Research:
I’ve already discontinued AI’s research, because it was just terrible (don’t worry; if I need to research them later on, I can just start from the point I’ve ended). Basic weapons for infantry are somewhat up-to-date, but I was somehow surprised that my starting divisions have mostly MP 36, Karabiner 98k and on rare occasions MP 40 firearms, instead of having at least MP 41, Gewehr 43 and StG 44 weapons. Not being able to build Panzergrenadiers (mechanized infantry) in 1944 is also somewhat disturbing.
What is the name of German weapon Mike Powell is holding in his hands? German scientists haven’t figured it out so far.
What’s worse, Germans are seriously lagging behind in both motorized (next screenshot) and regular support divisions (and remember that HARM is a support division in HPP too). I’d like to have balanced army with both regular and motorized infantry, since I’m not sure if cannibalizing energy to crude oil alone will keep all of my Panzers rolling. And as for tank research, it’s a pure disaster. At this point, Germans should’ve had quite a few Panther and Tiger Ausf. B (Tiger II) tanks rolling, instead of that they’re stuck at Panzer III and
Neubaufahrzeug!
On our way to Panther, we need to overcome also the intermediate stage named Pzkpfw. IV
1936’s level of industrial production let me stare at it speechlessly for quite a while.
Doctrines are OK and updated. I can't complain about them.
Politics:
The political situation in Germany is quite good. They have plenty of ministers to choose from, so I’m going for the best ones.
Humph, this pesky Belgelands! With some luck, USA nor Romania won’t join Allies to fulfill the 10th (last in order to win the game) victory condition. But the last time I’ve checked (Greater) Romania, they had Garda de Fier in power, which means they won’t join anyone anytime soon.
That would be all for this chapter. Do you have any advice to be said?
