Many comments... so a bit of explanation before I post the next piece.
Valdemar - No, I
allowed you the
pleasure of reading the end again!
I think I discussed Hitchcock in my comments a few pages back but I can't find it now.
Hitch did formerly serve in the military. He first came to our notice as a bit actor in WWTBN, playing the part of a sergeant in the British army. He is a senior administrator but loves to play these little parts in his spare time. In the interview with the reporter (early on in WWTBN) he 'plays dumb' and doesn't let on that he anything but an actor. This lets him avoid being questioned and quoted.
As the character of Hitchcock has developed over the two stories, there may be minor inconsistencies, but the major facts are solid: former military, currently runs the research department, loves role-playing and frequently crops up Park re-enactments and other parts.
Stuyvesant - the original Arkham was a fictional village in New England where Lovecraft set many of the stories of the 'Cthulhu' mythos. It's a great name and has been reused by others (Batman and myself included).
You don't think I'd mention something like a Yeti and not have it matter to the plot do you? Now figure THAT one out, I dare you!
Allowing people back into the full VR, while Minter is calling off the search teams for possible breaches, that is just asking, nay BEGGING for trouble.
Think of it as dangling bait.
J. Passepartout - my long dry spell seems to be ending. I haven't written much because I wasn't sure how to proceed. Finally I just went in all directions, hence the scattered posts above.
stnylan - He's just a little peeved at the bureaucrat-ese. Seriously, some of the things the Park does aren't easily described as rides or amusements, so I said 'events' and that doesn't sound right either. Suggestions?
