Lucky for you, you can never have too many children. Just think of how many loyal, capable vassals you can eventually make! (both as your children and eventually your ruler's siblings and nephews, etc)

In that case, do what I do with my daughters: find good courtiers, not of the same dynasty as you, and marry them to the daughters with good stats. Hopefully you'll have a bunch of grandkids from that marriage, those with good stats you can marry to your own descendents. I usually have 3-4 families being cultivated in my court, genetically bred to have good stats, and since they aren't all of your same dynasty you don't get inbred.

Gotta make sure you're Salic, though, else you might end up out of a job. :p

I always use salic, either primogeniture or more consangunity. That you don't get an inbred if the kid has not the same family name is something new to me. Although I can't remember that I ever married a family member to a relative.

I will post an update now, but no pictures just because of the mass of them and no time.
And then I will have to delete and repost the updates to have them better readable. But then, the first two of 8 updates I've written last week are ready.

Only three years. Three years to what? Until you take Holstein. This was mean. No, only the truth.

And so another 900 men from Celle were on their way to Holstein.

In January Luitgard gave birth to a stillborn child.

On the 8th of March Holstein was taken.

On the 18th of August Slesvig was liberated. Magnus had not to fight for it and in Brandenburg also nothing happened until then. Magnus rushed up the stairs of the taken castle to the Duke of Slesvig, who was kept by some Saxon guards. Magnus forced him to sign a peace. Magnus would own Holstein and get some gold for his soldiers. The Duke of Slesvig would keep his other titles, for now. Magnus granted Holstein the same day to the Bishop of Bremen. Also this day he told the whole world he was now Duke of Holstein and they should consider him as that.

In December Johann started his education in the army of Brandenburg.

1076: Udo told the world.
“From now on to the end of time Gnieznienskie shall be a part of Brandenburg. Everyone who claims to own it will have to give it up or will be forced to. The former owner will be forced to give it up or die.”

Ludwig started his education at the court and Konstanze got energetic and trusting.

In March Udo called for the Dukes of Saxony, Bohemia, Franken and Bavaria, who were the most important Dukes in his opinion, and the Pope.
“My friends, the high appreciated mighty Dukes of Germany and the Pope, I called you to… Where is the Pope anyway?”
“His health is not good enough to walk the long way over the Alps to your lands. He sent me to speak to you.”
“Good. I called you to tell you that from now on no one may call me Duke. From now on I will be called the King of Pommerania. And of course I will give the Pope 250 gold as sign for my good will. The Kingdom of Pommerania shall have all my lands and also lands in Poland and the Baltic coast. Those will be mine and the first step is that I will take Poznanskie. Tell the Poles I will own it and I will be the King of Poland! Tell Wielkopolska we have war!”

In April the Pope called for a crusade to Antiocheia. A city taken by the Emir of Jerusalem. Both, Udo and Magnus, let it be to go there. What would Germans do in a land that was called Holy? The only land Holy to Udo, except the Papal State, was his own and a war in Jerusalem was not very good to make this bigger.

In May the Archbishop of Wielkopolska attacked with 1000 men 200 Pommeranians, who laid siege on Gnieznienskie. In a glorious battle the 200 brave soldiers of Pommerania defeated the 1000 Poles and killed the Archbishop of Wielkopolska, who led his men. The Pommeranians lost only 10 men in that battle.

Wow, remind me to use Pommeranian soldiers next time I go to war. How many men did they lose? Did they just have horrible morale or something?

In August Udo took, together with 2000 men, Lubusz. The 200 men at Gnieznienskie were in fact only a red herring and Udo never expected them to win. Udo annexed Lubusz fast as he would need the men in Gnieznienskie before the heathens, who were also at war with Wielkopolska, which was another reason for this war, were there and would take it. He just wanted to go when the herald of the Pope came to him.
“Why are you here?” Udo asked hectically. “Don’t you see I’m in a hurry?” The monk just wanted to answer. “No wait. The Pope wouldn’t send you the long way here if it isn’t important. Now, what does he want? Has he sent you because of my war against Wielkopolska?”
“No. It wasn’t the Pope who sent me. It was the curia, who wanted to tell you a new Pope has been elected. And this one has no problem with it, why should he?”
“Because it is an Archbishopric?”
“That is not an Archbishopric anymore. The new ruler was elected by a heretic, who tried to trick us with an attack on some Pagans. But then you attacked him and your brave men killed him.” It seemed as Udo was not the only enemy of the former Archbishop.
“But why did you come here then? Surely not only to tell me this.”
“Of course not. I’m come to tell you the curia has elected you to tell the word of god in these lands.” A strange way to tell him he controlled the Pope, Udo thought, but the effect stayed the same, and that was a great one.

Richwara started her education at the court of Brandenburg. Magnus thought that would be a good experience for a young Saxon.

1077: Gnieznienskie was liberated. Udo told the world that this city should now be called Gnesen, as in his opinion nobody could spell this Polish names. He also claimed that it was only his brave men who took the city, but in fact even he knew most of the siege was made by the Pagans and he only got it due to the higher title, what was strangely even accepted by the heathen barbarians.

Since I’m at peace I loose troops. I need war soon.

Again Luitgard expected a child.

Richwara got honest and modest. It seemed like the time in Brandenburg was really good for her.

In September Johann got ill.

In October Udo and Oda were expecting a child.

On the 21st of December Poznanskie was taken and a peace was made. Wielkopolska was annexed and should be known as Großpolen afterwards. Poznanskie was renamed to Posen.

Also in December Magnus next daughter Irmgard was born.

You know what? If I pillage Kleve I loose gold for that. Do it. Yeah, sure.

Udo excommunicated the Duke of Meissen and claimed both of his titles. Then he sent a letter to the Duke that said: Give up all your land you silly heretic or my superior forces come to your castle and force you to.

A few days later he made his son Johann Count of the new taken land. Theodoric of Roma got Archbishop of Pommerania, Osbern FritzOsbern de Bretuil was made Archbishop of Brandenburg and Udo made his eldest son Heinrich Duke of Mecklemburg.
