Suddenly occurred to me that I should make a post about this, since it seems to have slipped by unnoticed from the oldest version of EUIII (!) and never been corrected...the following script is in the history file for Strasbourg;
Judging by the text and this map on Wikipedia -
- this script should be in the Sundgau and Briesgau provinces, not Strasbourg, with ALS replaced by HAB in the final line. In the oldest version of EUIII, there was only a single province in this area called "Elsass", and I think this is a leftover from the time when the province was being used to represent both the Prince-Bishopric of Strasbourg AND the Sundgau that didn't get corrected when the province got split in half...could someone fix that in the next patch? I'm sure people playing as Charles the Bold will greatly appreciate having an extra province to control as well as no longer sharing a border with the Habsburgs...
UPDATE: Did a bit more digging, and yup, this would have been what the text referred to; Archduke Sigismund of Austria pawned the Sundgau and Briesgau to Charles the Bold a couple of years before being dragged into war with him...
1467.6.15 = { add_core = BUR } # Charles the Bold ascends and lays claims on the Alsace
1469.1.1 = { owner = BUR controller = BUR } # Upper Alsace given to Charles the Bold by Archduke Sigismund
1474.1.1 = { unrest = 7 } # Breisgau and Upper Alsace revolt against Charles the Bold
1474.5.9 = { revolt = { type = revolutionary_rebels size = 2 } controller = REB } # Rebels arrest & execute Charles' puppet von Hagenbach
1477.1.5 = { revolt = {} owner = ALS controller = ALS remove_core = BUR unrest = 0 } # Charles the Bold dies, Alsace re-established
