Worked well for me HoI2 Armageddon 1.3 beta
It's truly outstanding Czarina
Ovg, Thanks! I never knew that the history could be a problem in HOI2 until your post...thanks.

You saved my cold war! Thanks!! I will finally go to 1964!
hansnery, Glad to help.

Thanks for your work, havnt tried it yet, no time for gaming but looking at the replies it works.
Jarno, Bummer (not being able to play). Hope you're not going through any withdrawals? :)

Oh shit this is awesome!
Hmm, what about sunk ships and leader history?
They take a large amout of space after a while!
Awesome program again.
JRHINDO, Thanks! It was fairly simple (did it at work during two lunches). I was going to wait until someone asked about sunk ships and leader history. I guess someone has, now. :D

Not sure how much it would slow down the process (right now I can run a 18 MB .eug file in @ 4 secs...with the defaults). The Event History is towards the bottom of the file and the battle history is at the bottom of the file. Whereas, the leader and ship sunks are spread through out the file contained within each leader and ship 'section' (guessing)

I'll try to look into it this weekend but my AAR (and playing) are at the top of my list.

To All, Thanks for testing. I guess my first version, will now be the first production release too.

Well sunk ships are below the flags, treaties and shit. They take up space because they include details about the ships that is tottaly useless. Its is in its own {} box. The leader history is the bottom texts, right along with the battle history and stuff.

Yea, I was worried about the ship and leader histories taking up more room combined than the event or battle history. What makes the program quick is the way I load it and the fact that all the event history is in one place and the batlle history is in another place. So what I'm doing is loading the file into memory, read the event history then delete it, read the battle history then delete it. Using this same process for ship & leader history will cause multiples of read then delete, instead of only two.

I'll need to test out some of my .eug files (saved games) from different versions of HOI2 and OS. The update to the software will be easy, testing is always the longest part of developing. I'll add two more checkboxes under the 'Just delete all' for those who wish to save their leader and ship history.

I've done a little research and the HOI2 History Archiver should be deleting all event, battle, and leader histories. The leader history is a sub-section (node) of the Battle history. Once you run the program, you should only be able to go to the Statistics and see Sunk Ships.

Still looking for where that's at.

JRHINDO, I think I found an easy way to delete the sunk ships. So...
Using this same process for ship & leader history will cause multiples of read then delete, instead of only two.
this will not happen. Shouldn't add but 0.5 - 2 seconds to the oeverall time the programs run now.
Look for an update late tomorrow or the morning of monday.

I'll create one more checkbox option for Delete Sunk Ships

What's better is that deleting only history should (in theory) work for all europa engine games :D. Could somebody test it on EUII/FTG/Victoria game? I have no saves from 'em :(.

All,
I have some good news and bad news.

Good news - I've updated program to delete (and give an option to save) sunk ships.

Bad News - Since I have only the free Visual Studio from MS, I can't create the setup.exe. If I'm out and about tomorrow, I'll go to work and run it there.

I'll have the new updated setup.exe file no later than tuesday.

Humm...backup...
Could you make a backup everything deleted option instead of just sunk ships?
This could be a very interesting aar program!

This is already available. Just uncheck the Just delete. Do not save history check box and then check the sub-checkboxes that you want the program to backup.

Once one unchecks the Just delete. Do not save history then any sub-checkboxes will be save to a history file (.his and fully readable with Notepad).

So to save all the history, uncheck the Just delete. Do not save history checkbox and check all the sub-options (checkboxes).
