The game is great, can happily spend hours wreaking havoc upon the world. There is just something that annoys me about this game is that it supposed to represent actual countries that exsisted within the time periods, but loads are missing and wrong.

For example many of the HRE countries are on the map innacurately, and many free imperial cities are missing or put as part of countries they were never a part of. For example, the free city of Augsburg is represented in this game as part of Bavaria. When it only became part of the country when it was allowed to be annexed by napolian.

The list is endless, worms was also a free city and is part of the Palantinate in this game. Frankfurt is part of Hesse. Thuringia is one state when in reality there was many. I know it's impossible to fit tiny states on the game but the majority or atleast some important one's should be represented.

Anyway rant over, the new expansion heir to the throne is great. A couple of problems though rebels take over far too easy and neighbour relations drop dramtically for some reason when having a royal marraige. Anyone know what that is about? ;)

Other than the HRE, it is accurate, however-probably the most accurate game I know of. And I think they try to simplify it to make it hard for Austria/ France/Bohemia/Whoever else to steamroller the empire.

The accuracy takes a sharp dive in asia though (with fantasy nations and provinces other's placed wrongly and the ones in existance horribly different from real history). But overall the game is actually rather accurate compared to other games I'd say. How many other game's have even this many states in the HRE?

If you want realism, check out MagnaMundi.

If you want semi-realism (but the map being a lot more accurate countries-wise) check out Divide et Impera.

To make all of the german city states would be a PiA. Plus, it would be very CPU-heavy.

In France too there's some imprecision. Why isn't Orleans an independent state. Orleans was direct property of the king of France if I remember correctly and the siege of Orleans in 1429 is one of the most important thing in French history. And there should definitively be provinces called Touraine (better than Blois) and Berry that are also important in France. Tours and Bourges were actually capital of France (Charles VII was called "roi de Bourges" and Louis XI prefered Tours to Paris). But anyway it doesn't really matter, does it ?

I also wonder why Piedmont and Lombardy are not required to form Italy. The Italian unification started from Piedmont-Savoy and Turin was the first capital of Italy.

I'm not really qualified to comment on the other criticisms in your post, but Berry is a province (and french minor) in HttT. Theres a bunch of other map revisions too, I don't think Blois is still around. (although might be wrong on that one.)

I also wonder why Piedmont and Lombardy are not required to form Italy. The Italian unification started from Piedmont-Savoy and Turin was the first capital of Italy.

The Italian unification in Eu3 takes its roots for the Carolingian rights from Charlemagne, while the unification which later started from Piedmont-Sardinia is beyond the timeframe of 1821 and was based upon an entirely different process.

For example many of the HRE countries are on the map innacurately, and many free imperial cities are missing or put as part of countries they were never a part of. For example, the free city of Augsburg is represented in this game as part of Bavaria. When it only became part of the country when it was allowed to be annexed by napolian.

I feel your pain here as I'd like to see the indipendent city of Bologna as well (until 1506 :)), but also small domains like Lucca and Monferrato.

I understand the game and the map could become very complicated, though.

I know quite a bit about German history, and a few others too. Helps being an hisorian lol.I actually have quite a few maps. It's also worth just looking on wikipedia and browsing the web. There's quite a lot of information out there if your willing to look.

I am working on a mod at the moment, so once i get that sorted i will provide you all with it. There's a lot of provinces that need tweaking and new nations to be added so will take a while. But hopefully worth it in the end.

Just to note, Heir to the throne is an improvement on In nomine. Paradox sure how to make things harder. Except for inheriting the whole HRE through reforms lol.

What it comes down to in the end is that there are enough OPMs in Germany. To have any more would make the game impractical to play. It has the best level of historical accuracy I could ask for in a game. If it isn't completely so then that isn't so much ignorance as gameplay. This IS a game after all.

Well it doesn't matter if it starts in Southern or Northern Italy, I think the point is you have to take the heart of Italy to form Italy.
