Poland wasn't a republic in real life, thought it is one in the game.
I think it was one in name, if not in practice
The thing is, EU3 uses the designation "noble republic" to mean a state where the ruler is chosen from among several noble families, sort of an aristocratic oligarchy, and not necessarily on a hereditary basis. That is why Poland has that government designation at some points, even though it was a monarchy.
ThanksOh whatever. The following countries were republics at some point in their histories in EU3's time frame.
Corsica
England
France
Genoa
Hamburg
Hansa
Krakow
Lithuania
Milan
Modena
Netherlands
Novgorod
Pisa
Poland
Pskov
Ragusa
Revolutionary France
Siena
Sweden
Switzerland
Tibet
Tuscany
USA
Venice
Junuxx's list was simply from the files - no point debating, since some of those are revolters anyway. Canada wasn't even a nation during EU3, and Louisiana never was.![]()
I know this. That's why when I qouted him I deleted all the revolters.

No, Italy became a republic in 1946.
It was called Rzeczpospolita, which is sometimes (mis)translated into English as Republic. Commonwealth is much better translation.
To some extent, the English word 'Republic' is just a graft from the Latin word for 'Commonwealth'.
