Contrary to history, do you think that Sicily would have two "Praetors/Governors" based upon this quote of Johan,

Johan Dev Diary #3 said:
In Rome, you do not have direct full control of every province in your empire. You need to appoint governors, strategos or satraps to each province outside the capital. A province without a governor is not working properly, and will most likely drift into chaos in a short time period. Selecting governors is a strategic choice in it self. A competent one may get more out of the province, but if he is corrupt, he may pocket a lot of the wealth as well. In a republic, he may end up winning the next consul ship when returning by spending his wealth to increase his popularity.

Just wondering...I really like this idea in theory but don't like its ahistorical aspect...but I guess since Sicily has takes up two areas of the map and is technically only one PROVINCE then perhaps one of the two governing characters is the "actual" governor and the other may be just some kind of subordinate....

There not really provinces per say, just areas..because the real areas that Rome had govs would be bloody huge. Game play > Reality. ALTHOUGH it would be cool if you could put people OVER province controllers...I mean it worked in CK.

exactly- that is what I was wondering...perhaps the appointed governor is over both "areas" that constitute Sicily for example, like a duke was over two counts etc...??

I don't believe that is works that way either. I think this game, depending on government type, is more about territorial/influence expansion. For example, in a republic governors will a have a much greater role and impact but in a monarchy they will still be important but the ruling family wont run an immediate risk of loosing power from a bad appointment.

As it seems to describe game mechanics, I think every province will have it's governor. However, one can easily make certain 'governors' more powerful by unbalancing provinces. Imagine Sicily: you give rich, eastern half to real 'governor', and western to some minor character (as it is poor and insignificant)...

I guess it just would ruin the "imaginary" flavor of the game if I pulled up Gov./Praetor etc Varus of Syracuse and sitting right next to him is Gov. Lucius of Lillybeaum etc...But I think I agree taht for game mechanics someone is "technically" GOVERNING each "province".
