Hello everyone, I recently played as a historical Portugal in an ahistorical SP game. During the SCW the following happened: The Carlist spawned and the Falange was quickly annexed by Republican Spain. This locked me out of the foci that allow you to intervene in the SCW. In other words: As non-aligned Portugal I couldn't support non-aligned Spain and had to watch everyone getting steamrolled by the increasingly Communist Republican Spain, which was a bit annoying. Not being able to support the Carlists sounds a bit counterintuitive to me. Is this intentional? And if not, couldn't that be changed rather easily?

It just the way Portugal tree is set. So that you can only support the side with the ideology you want to go down. i.e only Monarchist Portugal will support the Carlists. but this is seemingly only Portugal that has this restriction. as a lot of its focuses post SCW deal with the relationship between the two.

Having looked at the tree again you probably could support Carlist Spain if the focus was completed before the Nationalists collapse. it was probably just unfortunate that they collapsed before you could do it which is a very rare occurrence.

It is very common in focus trees to hit such walls. You pretty much have to backup every year so you are able to go back if you screw a focus.

Recently I played as Germany and then I decided to do "Fate of Czech" later to do some other stuff earlier. But they always refuse if done after ww2 starts ...
