In Historical Mode after defeating France Germany would attempt to invade England (Operation Sea Lion) or just relax and sit on her hands waiting 1941?
But human player can beat Royal Navy and start Sea Lion operation. Its shame that AI cannot do same thingSince germany has no way of acutally executing operation sealion they will mostly fight the british in the air and prepare for operation barbarossa. Historical mode by no means is a scripted gamemode. The AI is just weighted towards their historical decisions.
Germany has no way of getting naval supremacy in the channel or north sea in order to start a naval invasion against the UK in 1940.
you have to gain naval supremacy to even be able to do a naval invasion. If you cant manage to somehow gain it you simply cant invade the british isles. I dont see how germany could beat the british navy by 1940.But human player can beat Royal Navy and start Sea Lion operation. Its shame that AI cannot do same thing
I was doing it all the time in HoI 2 and 3))))) I was sinking their navy in ports by bombers and with U-boats on sea, then use paratroopers to seize footholds close to shore and beach. My fleet distract rest of enemy fleet so my transports with rest of invasion force can blitz across channel and disembark on captured beachhead.you have to gain naval supremacy to even be able to do a naval invasion. When I play as Germany, I plan to invade by sending paratroopers. If sea is out of the question, go by air!you have to gain naval supremacy to even be able to do a naval invasion. the problem with that will be, that you will be completly cut off from supplies and your paratroopers will be overrun by the british homeland garrison. Invasions, no matter if by air or by sea, are the easy part. The hard part is to maintain a intact supply chain to supply the troops. If you land on an island where the enemy has total naval supremacy there wont be any supply comming in of course and the supply secured in the UK wont be enough to supply your troops sufficiently. When I play as Germany, I plan to invade by sending paratroopers. As rafan said, this won't work. There is no air supply in game, so your paratroopers will be out of supply and die horribly. And securing ports will give you nothing, because you still don't have naval superiority. Without a navy, it's impossible to invade (and hold) any island. When I play as Germany, I plan to invade by sending paratroopers. If sea is out of the question, go by air!
Get cut of supplies sarounded and defeted, grat plan to lose manpower and equipment.
the problem with that would be of course the british radar and their fighters. Naval bombers wont be enough to protect your supply lines aswell, aside from them being rather expensive. They dont stay in the battle and the convoys are completly defenseless against the enemies man armaments. You have nothing that could soak up damage to protect the convoys on the field. You may damage some enemy ships, but your convoys will be sunk. If the enemy has total naval supremacy there wont be any supply comming through since most if not all convoys are sunk. Even the small amount that may get through wont be able to supply a invasion force. You don't need naval superiority to send supplies. Also, you could cover supply operations with naval aviation.
The UK could have invested more heavily in the fight on continental europe, leaving less troops to defend.
I think it's very much possible to do a ''Luftlöwe'' with some good luck and player skill.
