Is there a way in game to check who got lucky on random?

Figured it was Habsburg and Turkey, but since one is just a Lineage and the other doesn't really exist, wasn't sure if that was it.

To find out what nations are lucky open your save and search for the word luck.

In my game I have been playing as England/Great Britain and the Byzantine Empire got the extra luck tag. It would be interesting to see how many times that happens.

It looks like the lucky tags are hardcoded, so if you wanted to make Byzantium, say, lucky then you would have to change the files so that their code was one of the ten codes mentioned by Johan.

On a different note, the game.log file contains the initial lucky nations and whether they got that status historically or randomly.

Can random lucky countries be those that are not on the map at the opening of play?

It would be cool if they were, with say strong RR bonus's for random lucky countries so that they emerge out of the ruins of another country. Like the Netherlands for example.

Well, assuming that the random chance is taken from a list and assuming that its just a line of code for if=lucky nation then give +RR to nationalist revolters then it ought to be straight forward.

One way to check in-game whether a nation is lucky is to look at your compete chance vs. one of their merchants (hover your mouse over their shield in a CoT).

This can be managed via Savegames, no? Or does the game automatically restore the default lucky balance if I modify the savegame?

This is really cool since we can simulate hypothetical situation (e.g. what if nation X were successful).
Afaik you can alter lucky nations in the save game, however there can't be more than 8
