Not that I'm aware of, but it sounds quite plausible. And would you ever know? I mean, it could blow up for other reasons. Like God or something.
Probably. People have pretty much killed other people with everything, ever. Documented? Doubt it.

Death by "manure pit" is common enough malady in rural areas even today. No doubt a tragic way to go, and for those CSI watchers out there, it virtually wipes out any and all DNA evidence (you didn't here it from me).
Historically, I know of no record of intentional death by manure pit. Certainly, however, there were accidental deaths of this nature.

The only thing that comes to mind is the murder of Serbian King Alexander I, but he was dumped in manure after being murdered and that was in the twentieth Century.
It makes sense nowadays: manure produces methane, methane is flammable, in high quantities it can explode if ignited. However I'm not so sure a European at the time knew exactly how to get it to explode so its not as efficient as it seems

the only thing that immediately comes to mind is a harkonnen-hired cultural advisor, but that's not exactly history :laugh:

George Maniakes (a Byzantine commander and governor) did something similar to a political enemy. Otherwise I'm not aware of mediaeval instances but it was used by the Nazis in a camp on one Catholic priest. Some martyrs in Japan were killed by submerging them in a pile of meat. Live burials (no manure, "just" burial) were supposedly used to punish monks who violated their chastity vows on some occasions.
