Do you mean that 90% of the HIP installation are with EMF+more? If that is the case, the modularity of the whole project should be reconsidered. Because currently the choice for mods that actually works completely with vanilla seems to be either EMF+whatever, ARKO or VIET events & traits. Based on what I'm reading here, SWMH and PB are completely dependant of EMF (which will change with that release if you adress it, but still).

The modularity has been compromised by the fact that certain modules do not function without the presence of other modules.
Case in point, SWMH breaks several features without EMF fixing decisions.

And if the vast majority of users simply install everything anyway, there is little value in making it modular.

Btw, I disagree. There is no value in dropping the modular aspect at this point. The work is already done and its one of the big selling points of HIP.

I did not mean you to make it not modular or combine it (I would myself be one of the biggest opponents to a such change), but I was more asking you to reconsider its modular nature and ask yourselves whether some parts are modular or not, as you are stating.

SWMH was the only module which couldn't be installed on its own with vanilla, and I believe ziji (who isn't even on the SWMH team) corrected that for next release. PB also can't be installed on its own, but that's because it isn't currently being developed; it continues to exist only insofar as elements of it are utilized in EMF. If Meneth decides to continue active development, you can rest assured PB will return as its own module. (And EMF will always utilize elements of PB, so asking to be able to install EMF without PB is nonsensical.)

Might want to make this obvious on the install page. I haven't played in over a year since PB was it's own standalone mod & trying to install the 'latest' version of PB got me an empty mod when I selected no to all options as there is no option to install PB.

I will however go try EMF all on it's lonesome now I've read it's history.

So I'm having a problem, and I'm not sure if it's a vanilla problem or an HIP problem. I've never run into this on vanilla though. I'm currently the Duke of Normandy (TOG start, so no Norman culture) and own almost all of dejure West Francia. I'm still a vassal of West Francia though. I want to break free so I can usurp the title of West Francia since I own almost all of it anyways, and I'm at my vassal limit so I can't expand as a duke anymore. I can't fabricate a claim on my liege's title because both myself and my heir are content.

My problem is that I can't get anyone to join my independence faction. I've started the faction, but when I put my spymaster in my fellow dukes' capitals to scheme to get them to join my faction, in the council tab it says my spymaster has a 100.00% yearly chance, but if I hover over him on the map, all it says he's doing is giving me plot discovery chance. I've tried it with multiple dukes, and I even saved and then console killed the King to see if it was because everyone loved him too much (granted, most everyone in the realm, including myself, had +100 relations with the old king), but the problem still persisted.

Is there anything this mod adds that is preventing me from gathering support for an independence faction? Is this just a vanilla problem that I've never run into (I'll admit I'm not the most experienced CK2 player)?

I'm using all of the HIP modules except the one that changes the portraits. I should also add that I am using the version of HIP prior to the one that was released yesterday, because I don't like updating versions in the middle of a playthrough.

Your spymaster should be WAD. The % estimates for different job action events do not take into account everything that might have to do with the target (you'll notice that they're calculated before you've even targeted a province...), and there are various conditions that will block the events from ever firing.

Also, EMF independence factions are even more rowdy than vanilla. The problem is everyone in your realm liking your liege and your liege being their de jure liege. If you're suzerain to enough land to potentially usurp West Francia, then I suppose you could always just declare independence alone (either through the Bid for Independence CB or the faction). You could also try to assassinate the liege and get a child on the throne, although if everybody really does like him that much, you might not be able to get the plot power together. [You could also take the Intrigue focus and spy on him to possibly get a chance to murder him.]

You could also RP the fact that your character is content and, well, be content. :)

Note that the new version of HIP is fully save-compatible with the previous (just use the same modules and there will be no issue) and, in it, EMF does raise vassal limits among other things.

Quick question, first time trying the mod but while I started at first and loved the new flavour events, I found the pop up when you click on a county much too large. Which of the included features changed the size for that (and to a lesser extent the character view screen as well) if I wanted just to revert that aspect to Vanilla while ideally keeping as many of the other features as possible?

Simply reinstall without the module ARKO Interface (type 'n' when prompted about it in the installer), which is responsible for all those changes, and you'll be good to go. Your previous saves will all be compatible as well, because that module doesn't affect save-compatibility.

Hi I just installed the Post WoL version. When i go to start a campaign i cant select the Charlemagne date, do i need to install previous versions aswell before updating it to WoL?

Are you using SWMH? It does not have a Charlemagne start date.

Yea that would be my problem, Is the HIP good without SWMH or should i just start at Viking Age?

I personally cannot look at the vanilla map without cringing, but it all depends on your preferences, most of the mechanics will be there. But not the level of map detail, culture and beautiful things.

EDIT - Also the Charlemagne start is pretty fictional so I'd go 867 if you want early.

it definitely is good even without SWMH, even though of course it is much better with it :D (saysone of SWMH team members).

If you desperately want to play the Charlemagne start you have no choice either way, so it all depends on what you want :)

Thanks for the advice, I'll start at 867 I want to create a breton kingdom, I rarely come onto forums, I am amazed at the detail of the map already. :) thanks for the advice Elvain and Woody Man!

Last time I checked in here, there was a thread about hypothetical potential converter of swmh map into vanilla eu4. Did it result into anything yet?
