You're probably right. Once again, you're probably more knowledgeable in game mechanics and probably in actual history than me so I'll trust you on that ^^ It doesn't change anything in the fact that I'm having a lot of fun in HIP even in the 867 bookmark ^^

Since I'm here and you're talking about bookmarks. Will we ever get a bookmark about the creation of the HRE ? With maybe story event like in Charlemagne.

And since I'm talking about HRE, is it normal that Notger is not in the history of the prince-bishopric of Liege ? He's the 1st on so I'd assume he'd be there. I don't want to put it in the bug section since you may have reasons to not include him.

Eventually when we get back to 955, then yeah, we will figure out some way to represent the formation of the HRE. It's somewhat out into the future, so we haven't decided on anything yet.

And yeah, i'm pretty sure we haven't added Notker/Notger to the history files yet, seeing as he died in 1008 (i.e. before the currently available startdate to you guys). He will obviously be added for the next Timeline extension, when we have it ready for you guys

With it on, you get:
  • Norse adventurers
  • The "Karling Usurper" trait on the first non-Karling to rule any of the former Karling kingdoms/HRE/SER (867 start)
  • The Caliph putting the Manicheans to death
  • Rollo's invasion of Normandy
  • Seljuk invasion of the ERE
That's it. Nothing else is touched in the game whatsoever, contrary to what many people seem to think.

So there is no event to land the Seljuks (not just sitting as a courtier in the Ghaznavids) and start his conquest of Persia in the 1018 bookmark?

There is. It's controlled by the game rule for Turkic conquerors.

That and some flags weren't set right in Hydra2, but it'll work properly in Hydra3.

Any progress with the beta ?

I was just curious since he's kind of a famous guy where I'm from (but then again I come from Liege so it's not surprising). The rest of the history is top notch so I can't really complain.

And if I may ask, not really related (and I can understand why you made it that way), but regarding the HRE. Only Charlemagne is listed in the history file until Otto. But even if their power was more nominal than anything else, there was 10 emperors after him and Louis II of Italy was Emperor in 867. Is the fact that they were mostly emperor in name more than de facto the reason why they aren't listed as Holy Roman Emperor ? I mean, if Louis had the HRE on top of the kingdom of Italy it wouldn't change much, would it ?

How much money did Vicky 2 even make? I highly doubt they will dedicate CK’s team resources to it being given what a commercial success the game is. Plus they do know, that the three outcomes peace „negotiation” system, stiff titles structure and a few other things are really antiquated and beg rewriting completely. I would expect they make the CK3 future compatible with putting China in it. I don’t think we need it at all, but PDS is cleanly itching to rub the Chinese the right way recently. Does make sense financially though.
Vicky 2 made more money than Paradox expected - I recall that one of the bigwigs at PDX was forced to shave his head as part of a bet he made regarding whether or not Victoria 2 would ever make a profit.

That's interesting, but how long did it take? I believe that Vicky is much more difficult to code than EU or CK.

Anyone here able to do a HIP multiplayer game? Gets out of sync immediately

Yes, just have the host save at that point, and re-host with that save. There's a strange bug in CK2 that apparently doesn't agree with the heavy amount of work HIP does upon campaign initialization during multiplayer. Hosting from the initial save always works from there on.

Would it be too much to ask to change the installer so that it doesn't blindly delete Historical Immersion Folder as a whole? Or at least make it leave .git directory and .gitignore in it alone? I've set up git to track my private changes and I'd like to not to have to manually move it out of there to prevent deletion.

I'd advise that you keep your version-controlled changes to the mod either in a proper [personal] submod or simply in another directory (and then point `HIP.mod` at it, probably with relative pathing like `../../../my_mods/this_one`). I do both (my submods are version-controlled off in another directory).

So there is no event to land the Seljuks (not just sitting as a courtier in the Ghaznavids) and start his conquest of Persia in the 1018 bookmark?

In dev, it currently works (launches invasion in 1018 when unlanded and also bolsters invasion when already landed but not yet an empire), but I'd like to make it work better soon.

Any progress with the beta ?

I've been out of commission for awhile and additionally my priorities are shifting away from spending so much time on HIP, but progress is good: maybe by the end of the week I will push a new beta along with a complete changelog.

Apologies, if there's a suggestions thread I've missed.

I would like an option in the options menu to have restricted cultures, slower cultural conversions, but the default speed for cultural synthesis.

It's a big request, but I really like the revolt system in CKII+, it makes the game a lot more dynamic. I've just played 200 years of a game, only one country has imploded (The Seljuks). Even when the Holy Roman Emperor converted to paganism, nobody revolted, and the vassals just quietly converted to paganism over the next half century, it's crazy. Revolts ought to be more frequent, more powerful and more organised.
